Hey guys - how long did your mortgage approvals take from the point all paperwork was submitted?

Turns out that after her husband passed away our buyer's buyer needed to get a new full mortgage approval check done with her lender, its been a month now and no news since that process re-started :(

It took us nearly exactly one month from submitting the last piece of evidence to our solicitor getting a mortgage offer through the post.

The vendor is going to pay for the treatment required, so all is going ahead! We'll be exchanging tomorrow, and completing the following Thursday. THANK CHRIST. (Don't actually thank Christ. It was all me).

Good stuff! Fingers crossed for the exchange tomorrow. You're almost there :)

I've entered this process too now, advertised our house Thursday 17th, sold 7 days later, offer accepted on another house, mortgage being handled by London & Country, had an agreement in principle from the estate agent broker, but the fees take the **** as I only got the KPI this week. So getting L&C on it, details filled in for an application, so fingers crossed. Legal paperwork all filled in and sent off.

I've heard circa 10 weeks, we've got no chain as FTB for our place and the new home has no chain as they're moving back to Wales. Hampshire to Wales, they'll be quids in!

Good luck with the move!

I don't mind if ours takes a while as it means things are still being paid off, i.e. chipping away at existing mortgage. It can take as long as required as long as the "chain" doesn't break

Trust me, when you get to the 11th hour before exchanging and there's one tiny hold up preventing you from exchanging that looks like it'll threaten the entire chain you'll have a different view. ;)

We broke our chain and lived out of suitcases for 2 weeks, but at the time had no firm completion date for our onward purchase but it had to be done. The thought of remarketing and going through all that again whilst standing to lose the place we'd searched high and low for is a very motivating prospect lol.
