anyone know of any cheap but fairly good quality paint?

need to strip and repaint a whole house but going to do it in white (can then colour whichever walls i need to individually)

some walls will be left the painted white (the ceilings all will be)

Can recommend Wilko own brand paint. Just had our bedroom redecorated and the decorator said it was decent to put on. This was a colour over magnolia and 2 coats gave it a nice finish.

Unable to comment on how the white will cover.

Just bought mine and never bothered with a independent survey. It really is something the seller should provide imo and be FULLY independent.

Exchanged yesterday and completed today! I'm sitting in our new front room on a garden chair

Now for the furniture!

What a 'mare it has been, but done now

All the best to the rest waiting for their new homes!!

Cheers. Checked willow and 2.5l was £7 for the cheapest they did. Had to go in to b and q for some other bits and noticed they had a dulex brilliant white for £20 for 10l which worked out cheaper.

In other news. The wife had some words with the solicitors we got some chasing to do and some paperwork to sort but we should be able to exchange/complete on friday

Do I fill holes where picture hooks and a couple of ikea shelves have been before completing on my house sale?

Complete a week today, still got to change over the utilities and continue to pack everything, and book the van hire!

I wouln't just filling it still means it needs to be decorated and you never know the buer might just wnt to hang pictures in the same place!

Final meeting with solicitor tomorrow to sign everything. Vendors suggested a date of 27th to complete which is all good with me.

Nervous and excited at the same time.

I made the first payment to the solicitor last week so the searches could get underway. How long do the searches normally take?

mine took about 2 - 2.5weeks to come back

felt like forever but the process for us has been fairly short.

26/8 we viewed the house (private sale)

should be exchanging/completing (same day) on Friday (9/10)

I put an offer in on a property today. Went to an open house viewing last weekend - along with another 30 people. Put an offer in this morning, although we aren't too confident that we'll get it based on this competition. This is our first attempt at putting in an offer so will see how we go.

It's worth doing just to get a feel for the demand and true market value. We missed out on a couple of houses simply because I initially didn't believe the estate agents when they said the vendor had been made offers way over the asking price. But for the area we were looking, offers over asking price are quite common due to the demand. Good luck!

We went in over the asking. Did some research based on what things had gone for and what we felt was the right sort of value. Will see how things play out - although we totally don't expect to get it.

So just got a phone call from the estate agent, the developer we are buying from has given us two weeks to complete or they will be putting the house back on the market.

I'm not sure what to do with this, I've been in contact with our solicitor and he seems to think it is workable. Currently my house is sale agreed and the paper work is with the buyers solicitor. But obviously we can't complete on the new house until the current one is sold etc.

We agreed to buy the new house 9 weeks ago so its not like we have been dragging our heels. The solicitor was just a bit swamped over the summer months and so there was a delay getting paper work out.

Is this areas of Manchester? If so which areas? I'm looking to move early next year, and that could affect my budgeting a bit. I'm hoping to move with Stretford (unlikely due to lack of suitable housing stock) or Sale/Timperley.

If your solicitor is half competent he will be reminder the developer/their solicitor that waiting another 4 weeks (if required) for you to exchange is still faster, cheaper and less hassle than agreeing a new sale, especially if your related sale is the only delaying factor.

When was your solicitor instructed on your sale?

Yeah thats what I assumed, it seems like the developer/estate agent is in a massive rush for the money. Our solicitor was instructed for our sale mid July. We agreed to purchase the place about 2 weeks later. The chain is our buyer => us => developer. The buyer is also a housing association so there is no mortgage to worry about at that end, I had thought that the whole thing was going to be fairly plain sailing give how short the chain is.
