The nervous wait to exchange....

For now, yes.
I've just had a similar thing come through this morning so I can work with a bank in EU. They are using a similar 3rd party to verify ID and the privacy policy is clear, concise and far stricter than the company posted in here. They are also clear up front and state if you don't want to use them, go back to the 'initiator' and request a manual method. If lenders in the UK insist on using companies with fluffy privacy policies and don't allow another method it's not going to go down well.

Bit of an update (didn’t realise it had been so long!).

House was started in Feb, currently the roof is on, blockwork all done, and about 90% of the plaster boarding is complete. Looks like they are just starting taping and fitting sockets/lights upstairs. Still have 5 bathrooms and a kitchen to install, due to get the keys in 8 weeks. Hoping it isn’t delayed again as we’ve been in various airbnbs since May, not much fun with 3 young kids!

So final (for now!) update, our entry date was confirmed a couple of weeks ago for 4th November. Shortly after, they brought it forward to 28th October. Had a bit of a panic last weekend as I tried to transfer our deposit to the solicitor, only to hit the 25k/day payment limit (not enough days to do it!). Managed to go into a branch where they did it (after triple checking). Mortgage funds have also arrived at our solicitor, so all looking good for our handover tomorrow at 12.30. Had a quick tour of the house last week, they still had to finish the garden fencing and commission the 2 (two!) air source heat pumps, but that has all been done now. Excited and quite nervous!

solicotor tennis this week for me.

got told the additional enquiries paperwork was sent to buyers solictiors yesterday, got told by my EA that the buyers solicitor didn't receive them, cue me going back to solicitor and asking what's going on and have heard nothing back.

How do you say you sent it then they say they haven't had it, they're all a bunch of ***** it's not hard to see if an email has been sent or failed.

Were currently in the mortgage decision merry-go-round.

Nationwide asked for us to resend a couple of docs on Monday which our broker did same day I believe, but i've since learnt that they don't pick your application up again and you go to the back of their queue for review. So basically another week to wait for it to be picked up again.

Hopefully should get looked at on Monday/Tuesday next week.
Got a survey booked for tomorrow which i'm keen to see the results of.

In slightly more positive news our solicitor said today that providing the survey doesn't throw up any curveballs and mortgage offer comes through pretty sharpish we can begin to have discussions regarding exchange and completion, however he is going to be on annual leave next week which is slightly annoying so wont be able to do anything until the following Monday anyway.

We’re in!

Interesting to see the place without the previous owners furniture.

As we have the rental for a few more weeks, we‘ve decided to give the new place a lick of paint before we move the furniture in.

Had half hoped it wouldn’t be necessary but it’s going to be easier to do it now in an empty house than wait until the new year and have to paint around the furniture.

Onwards and upwards!

How long do cash only purchase conveyances normally take? We have been going one week and it would be nice to complete at the end of November. 5 to 6 weeks. Nothing to sell.

Searches can still take an age! Plus slow solicitors!
