The nervous wait to exchange....

I'd question the land registry fee, they can either send it normally for £190 or electronically for £95. My transfer fee/completion fee was £15, with 3 quid VAT. It didn't cost me anything for them to check my ID, either.

This may seem like a stupid question, but how does it work when moving into a new home regarding electricity/water/gas? We move in on the 20th of November, should I start the ball rolling now? Wait till moved in? Does the current supplier continue for one last month? so we have their provider? :s

The offer letter says this is just my copy. Nothing to sign and return.

Same for me - the mortgage co should have sent the same letter to your solicitor. The mortgage offer is one of the pre-requisites for exchanging contracts, so as Sam said, contact your solicitor for progress with your overall conveyance and keep chasing them.

Dunno but I'm hoping to be in the same boat next month. As you have a moving in date, if I were you, in the absence of any instructions to the contrary I'd be contacting your suppliers now and telling them you're moving. Note you don't have any choice over your water supplier, so that should be quite simple.

We had an offer accepted 5 weeks ago on a house. Had everything in place to complete as quick as posible as our current lease runs out on 28 Nov. Ridiculously the Sellers solicitor has only now sent out contracts! Had a snotty call from Estate Agent asking why we hadn't signed contracts yet, told her we hadn't receieved anything and turns out she had forgotten to tell the sellers solicitor about the sale

Spoke to our landlords today and they're not keen to extend our tenancy beyond the end of November so now have 15 working to complete the purchase:eek: House we're buying is currently empty too so had hoped for a quick completion with plenty of time to tidy this place up before handing it back.

Here it is btw :)

Thanks, this is our first home though as we both live with parents currently!

Unexpectedly got a month notice of my current tenancy. Need to see if I can somehow push for completion by then, otherwise it will be back to my parents until then.

Just spoke to my solictors, they are awaiting the paperwork back from the sellers solictors and then once they have that, they will start the searches on the property. (water/drainage etc etc)

Can anyone give me an idea of how long the process takes from accepted offer to completion?

Had my offer accepted yesterday and mortgage application was in this morning with a estimated 11 working day processing time with the bank, nationwide.

Instructed solicitor and they should have received the details from the estate agent today.

I am first time buyer and seller is moving to rented house so no chain, any ideas?

Should be straight forward with no chain but that assumes no incompetence from an EA or solicitor. Are you feeling lucky?

We're using a solicitor near where I work so I can drop things in (and visit to kick ass). I told them "our" sale was purely in my misses name, yet all the sale paperwork turns up with both our names on and half way through, my surname changes to that of my misses
