The new Arsenal Club Thread - *No Spoilers & Read OP Before Posting*

Arsenal lost over £100m in the last year's accounts (to end of May). That's before they went and spent well over £100m in the summer. The idea they would have had a massive warchest in January is laughable. Cutting the wage bill will definitely have been on the agenda. Other factors:

AMN was seemingly desperate to leave.
Kolasinac sale was a mistake but perhaps understandable in that he was [wrongly] considered below Tavares in the pecking order for backup LB and on about £100k/week
Letting Mari go on loan, not sure that was the right call given Chambers was sold and Saliba still out on loan. We only have 3 senior CBs without him, just about scraped through although I'm not convinced White and Gabriel were both 100% fit for the game this week. Again though he's on £85k/week so a half season loan saves about £2m.
Chambers was kind of surplus to requirements given the options available at CB/RB, out of contract in the summer so if he wasn't going to play may as well get rid.

A 29 year old premier league footballer has been arrested in Barnet on suspicion of rape.

Lot of rumours that’s its one of our midfielders. I really bloody hope not.

Jack Wilshere has retired. What a shame, when I saw him in a pre-season tournament at 16 I was super impressed, then a few years later came this in 2011, still a teenager running rings round absolute peak Barca midfield:

It says they started an investigation in March, but the player wasn’t arrested until this week. How can we be sure we even knew about this before his arrest?
