The New Cases Gallery

Do need to sort that top fan out, as someone pointed out it is blowing air out which is kinda silly, but my temps are pretty good idle 30c load 60c.

Problem I am facing is that, if I have 3 (or 4 if changed) fans blowing in and only 1 blowing out, surely that would be bad for airflow.

Also not sure that top fan would be able to be moved over 1 more, so the cpu has 2 fans cooling it :/

My Fractal design Define R2 now has a window:

I think it's quite good.

@Cursed: That looks awesome - I just ordered a spare side panel for mine today! Did you have any difficulties? Any tips?

Yeah, please describe how you did that lovely mod, any noise increase from it?

I feel like a summer project that that looks sexy :D

You think that fan orientation keeps the north bridge cooler?

EDIT: sorry for the poor pictures, took them on my phone.

Just drilled a hole in each corner, and cut in between using a jigsaw. Then gave it a bit of a file down and added some U-Channel to make it look tidier. I cut away some bitumen to allow the plexiglass to be fitted too.

As for tips, I'd say do the cutting in a clean area. I had to repaint my side panel because it was all scratched up (It was slightly scratched before). It is a bit louder, but I suppose it depends on the thickness of the plexiglass. I'd just like to point out that mine isn't properly stuck in yet so it still has gaps around the sides which of course leaks noise. Not to mention I've just added a new fan which is a bit louder than the rest too.

You can get the plexiglass quite cheap off a well known auction site. It cost £1.80 and is A3 size/ 2mm thick.

This was a spare side panel by the way, so now I have the option of using either a windowed one or the plain old one if I feel like it. Thanks for the comments.

PS: I wouldn't know about the Northbridge temps since they aren't given in the BIOS. The only reason I have the heatsink like that is because Socket AM3 only lets you orientate them one way :/

Looks awesome, how did you go about getting the internals painted white?

Step by step (there are some photos somewhere, from ages ago though):

1. Drill out all the rivets.
2. Take the case to pieces.
3. Sand with 400-800-1200 wet and dry.
4. 3-4 thin coats of grey/white primer, sanding with 1200 or 1500 grit wet and dry after each one.
5. Same again, maybe a few more coats with white paint (Honda Arctic white iirc).
6. 2-3 coats clear laquer.
7. m4 bolts, washers and nuts to screw the whole thing back together.
