The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Enjoy, I had one and in terms of IQ its better than the F/2.8 IMHO. I use the F/2.8 at the back of church weddings and it does help but for outdoor portraits then its value for money!

That was my reasoning. I have no need for f/2.8, so the extra bulk and cost of a second hand 2.8 IS mk1 vs the f/4 IS was pointless, as the f/4 is thought to be sharper than the mk1 2.8.

Justifying it to myself! Most expensive lens I've bought yet... :p

Almost complete ;)

Another charity shop bargain.

Olympus Camedia D-435. 5MP with a 35mm equivalent f/2.8 fixed lens.

Very impressed with the IQ and dynamic range! The image files are large (in terms of mb) which is a good sign of image detail.

That's funny because I know I'm now going to sell my 7D but I was thinking of replacing my 5D2 with one of those!
Are you impressed with it?

Well I only picked it up for this weekend so still early days. It's a whole new pace of photography compared to the 1Ds2, but that's to be expected. The EVF is pretty good, I haven't used rthe OVF much as yet. It's a lovely bit of kit and well put together. Just from a couple of days use I can see that it is going to pull me back to "doing photography" as I get a bit more involved in the process and have to think ahead more (the 1Ds2 makes things so much easier in comparison!). I am impressed with it, but I can also see why some might not take to it in comparison to a DSLR. It's not meant to go up against a DLSR though.

I like the in camera jpeg processing, I could see myself just using that as the workflow is so quick and painless! I'll probably shoot RAW more often though as that is more what I am used to.

I would be scared to take a photo of mine and I don't even do it full time !

It'd be a nice pic though :)

Still going well I take it? I've succumbed to requests and shoot my first wedding tomorrow (as a second shooter), all in preparation for a wedding in December. So I've got plenty of time to hopefully get my skills up!
