You need to. Once you get comfortable using the 85mm you feel you don't want to change down even though really you need that 50mm range indoors. Its a wonderful lens. Sharpness is amazing.

i found my 50L to be rather soft at 1.2 - 1.8. Sold it on for what i paid for it, and got a sigma 1.4 instead, which i actually prefer

got the 85L and 35L though, and certainly don't want to trade those guys. They're super sharp wide open :)

I wouldn't trade my Sigma 35 for the a Canon even if it was a direct swap with no extra cash needed. There's a look it gives that I find quite exclusive to it only and the feel of it compared to the 35L in the hand.

stument, depends on what your lighting usage would be but mine consist of various umbrellas both round and softbox squared on stands.

ill have a google round, i could prob pick up a starter basic for around £100 on the bay
Have you got existing flash units? Because if you have it shouldn't cost that much to good basic two light setup.

Light stand £16ea (get ones with a 5kg+ rating vs £10 Koing LS10 type that are a bit flimsy at 2.5kg), more expensive ones are air / spring cushioned as well.
Light stand weights 40p ea (Tesco 1kg bags of rice plus a bit of duck tape) or use anything that's heavy that'll fit through the legs
Flash holder with umbrella hole £7ea (get a metal one as they are more robust than the plastic ones)
Umbrella 33" or 40" £4 - £7ea, get a few different types but start with a translucent but consider adding a silver as well
Snoot and or grid for flash £4 - £6 ea

You can set up with continuous lighting as an alternative but expect to shoot at higher iso's and a more open aperture if you do.

I just get some bowen light stands, couple of "swapable" brolly from Calumet, and the brass socket thing.

Around just under £200 for the lot.

Buy a couple of cheap Cree LED torches and mounts on eBay to put onto the umbrella stands or softbox stands, that way you get brilliant light for a constant lighting setup and you can also attach the flashgun for a combined modelling light with flash setup. Will cost a lot less and provide great power.

Should add to this 5 in 1 reflectors (£6 - £15) as well, it'll give you more options and in effect create addition light sources.
