The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

i found it now in the custom functions :) but yes, the camera is more complicated than a mk2

but i have to say just from picking it up and messing about for 10 mins it just ooozes with quality, everything about it especially the shutter button speed and feel . worlds apart from a mk2

loving it

Is that the 85L f1.2? If so, what do you think of it and can you take a decent photo of a flower with it due to the 0.95m min focus distance? Considering taking the expensive plunge in the name of creamy bokeh...

It is, the 85mm and red ring kinda gives it away :p

As for flowers, erm? I probably have and they look good. I didnt buy it for that singular purpose though.

Do you not insure them for their retail/replacement new price Raymond?

Actually, can you get that insurance? Like I bought a 2nd hand Nikon 70-200mm 2.8, could I insure it so that if some jobber stole it from me, I'd get a new one?

I need to read the t&C fully but fr my understanding it is the value I insure it for. Like how someone insure a piece of original Art.

Everything on that list is bought new with receipt with the exception of the 16-35L. So I insured them for what I think I can get them for at the best online price. Although some needs adjusting, like the 135 and 24-70 (no longer made).

Very nice, can't wait to have a play with one. 2 years off for me though but it will be free. I was given enough free shares at work to buy one but have to keep them for 3 years. 2 years to go :D

At least by then the 24-70 should be a reasonable price :D

Aye ofc you didn't! Next time you are waiting around though can you try and take a floral shot with that lens please mate? Currently the 135L f2 seems like the best bet for static shots like that with incredible bokeh. The background blur is even in full affect at f16 with that lens on floral photography which is idea, but lower f numbers are always tempting!

Do you have the 50 f1.2 to compare that against also mate?
