The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Haha! Thanks! It's actually there because the view from it meant I could test the stability doing this....

Not gear as such but I thought I'd have a go of the Photoshop CC subscription thing. After all I just weed away £1800 on a new PC build so I thought I'd try it :D

One thing I'm unsure of is that it says that you get Photoshop and Lightroom with it, but it appears I have access to edge code, animate, preview and a couple of other things that I assume are just optional app/plugins for photoshop to aid mobile app development.

Also my 70-200 is a bit late due to the order being missed for a day :(

I think I have some form of mental block when it comes to tripods. I've just realised I haven't ordered one, then I just ordered the wrong one, had to cancel and finally got the order right.

Redged TSC-525k on it's way :)

Still, it should be here in 2-3 days :) I didn't bother getting the extender as I'm mulling over replacing my 35L with the Sigma art one, or waiting a few months until the new 50mm comes out. With the raving they're pushing out the PR end of Sigma, if accurate, I WANT THAT :D

Re the 70-200, it's a great lens, you're going to love it. Is it here yet?

This is my gear after selling the Canon 60D

FUJI X-PRO 1, ive added a new lens hood as the one that comes with the lens is horrible, a soft shutter button and a thumb grip

It arrived about 3 hours ago! Oddly the UPS tracker now shows only the local time zone that the lens is currently in, making it hard to tell where it is. Last night at 2am it said I wasn't getting it until Monday at midnight (oddly) and then it turned up this afternoon.

Also my tripod arrived about 30 minutes before it too :) I've not had a chance to test anything properly. Annoyingly I've been off work for 2 weeks and received the items on the last day I'm off work for months :( I've had a quick test with the lens in low light and I can already see that I'd be able to get handheld shots in near darkness at ISO200 (ISO100 is pushing it a bit with the handshake I have, added to night light)

My Voigtlander 75mm F1.8 Heliar classic turned up this morning. Very well build lens as expected for the classic design, being made out of brass and aluminium. The coated class is excellent at resisting flare, but it seems to lose some microcontrast compared to leica and zeiss glass.

However, the bokeh is very nice from it and the untouched RAWs from my M9 with this lens don't particularily need anything doing to them due to the rather neutral colour cast the lens gives.

@flame, get a hand strap for your pro 1 as neck straps really aren't required and the hand strap makes you far more discreet when out and about with the camera.

If you're running on the new firmware can you let me know how the AF is, I've been eyeing up an XP1 as a second cam for a while but I've been concerned about the potential AF woes.

Also if you don't mind me asking how much did the body and 25mm set you back?

When I got the X Pro 1 it had the old firmware on it and the AF was a bit slow but now both the lens and body have been upgraded to 3.10 firmware it's much snappier probably just a tad slower then my old dslr.

Also the lens is an 18mm not 25mm, I paid £949 for both the body and lens but it also came with a genuine X Pro 1 grip and additional genuine fuji battery. I've also just sent off for a free 35mm lens which Fuji are give away.

Not quite as nice a toy as above, but I needed a flash :)

Already had quite a bit of fun with it, took me a while to work out why it wasn't very bright :p Could do with a diffuser though however I'll wait a while as it's not top of the list.

I couldn't leave the photography show without something so managed to save a few pounds on this :

Can't wait to get out this week to try it out but I was pretty impressed with the demo I had at the show.
