The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Ha, yes. £10k is a little bit too much to just be a toy :p. We already run a video production and photography agency so it'll compliment everything we're doing already and we'll be promoting more specialist work (from sole aerial work to non-media related applications like surveying and other data acquisition).

We even got approached by someone whilst training with it from Bristol University who wanted some info as to using it to test toxin levels above fracking sites.

Sometimes the 5D3 and lenses are a bit bulky so got a Panasonic Lumix G7 with 20mm 1.7 lens.

And got the 12-32 free as part of the promotion.

A few more pics / mini review :

The "AW" bit is All Weather - you'll see why in a tad and the "Flipside" is due to the rear entry (phnar phnar) / security measures to protect your kit

Went for Black as opposed to Olive

dMgJAan.jpg

You can see the small buckle at the back for tripod / monopod, but again more on that in a tad

NiukcFO.jpg

FoNNYWP.jpg

Both sides are pretty similar with a "pouch" and strap / buckle for bottles of water, gin, etc.

The buckle / strap i mentioned on the back (poor quality pic alert)

EqKGEpe.jpg

Can be used to lash a small(ish) mono or tripod onto along with a fold out pouch / holder, hidden like so (but identified by the camera / tripod icon)

Pulls out as so

There is a small back pack for sarnies, books, kindle. ipad or a hip-flask :

But the main compartment is opened from the side which would normally be nice and safe against your back

y8yE6ZK.jpg

No way an opportunist thief is swiping your gear from that

The waist straps can be done up, unhook the main should straps and "swivel" it round infront of you to fold down like a large codpiece to access your kit and also act as a "rest" for changing lenses etc.

On the underside is another icon

And again with a little lift of a velcro strap you can pull out and apply the built in rain cover

Opening the flap up reveals a flat storage compartment and a few spare SD Card storage compartments

The main storage compartment is a really good size and has a full compliment of fully adjustagbale and configurable sections to accomodate a whole range of options for your kit

And to give you a feel for size (excuse the ipotato pic) :

That's a D7100 with 35mm prime and an 18-55 kit lens along with a 70-210 lens and as you can see plenty of more room for more stuff as well.

You will easily get a few more lenses, spare battery / batteries and filters / charger etc in there, even a few cans of stella.

Its comfy to wear and my only real niggle (given the price and where it came from) is that it could well be a fake. Having said that it is, for the price, still a great bag im sure I will be using on most trips out :)

Turns out I am not the only one who has had a similar experience in there. I normally don't bother reviewing/complaining about bad experiences but this was no ordinary experience.

Absolutely loving the prime 35mm :D

EDIT - wow, reading the other reviews in more detail - it's astonishing they're in business. They are utter scum. I have a right mind to take this further/higher highlighting how terrible they are but it's probably pointless.

The guy in there is an ****hole, I went in there about two years ago as they were the only one that had a 120-300 OS in stock that I could handle first.

Get in, ask to have a look at it. Guy says he will only get it out the box if I buy it. Ok, fine, if he didn't have an attitude when saying it. He then contulinues on saying I was obviously just going to buy it online, to which my response was depends on the price, but I was just looking at the moment (it's a big heavy lens). He then goes on to "the web" and states most shops are out of stock or more expensive (naming names). All rubbish as I'd checked camerapricebuster before I went in the shop. I had to smile when he shifted the screen away from me as i tried to look ...

So the guy has an attitude problem and has no issues lying through his teeth. Needless to say I'm not shopping there again... ;)

I just used my 20mm 1.7 for the first time with my GX7 (apart from test shots) and wow, what an amazing lens. AF was a little slow at times, but I was trying to film little kids playing football in odd lighting conditions - but some shots came out great :)

Nice bag. Have the 500AW myself. Takes a 500mm F4 (hood reversed) on body and I presume the 600 F4 (hood reversed but minus body) would fit as well. The only thing I don't like (about the 500) is how much the backpack sticks out from your back and it tends to get used more for transporting stuff about in the boot of the car (spare body, wide and macro lenses, filters etc) than walking about.
