The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Are the coloured Eneloops anything special over the white/silver coloured ones?

They're the tropical limited edition, sold in eight-packs.

I've just thought that four of these would be really nifty for keeping them in sets! :)

EDIT: Need some new ones anyway so just bought four sets of the Tropicals which gives me eight colour-coded sets of four - awesome! :)

New astro camera arrived.. on paper it's "30%" mode sensitive.. but in reality it's more. ATIK 414EX. Small sensor size (something like 1360x1000) compared to my 383L 3362x2570).

A new learning experience.

The chaps in the USA have found that the Sony A7 makes a very good astro camera with a the addition of a device to control the shutter timing.

As part of my uni course I had a trip to the top of mount Teide in Tenerife to the observatory up there... quite enjoyed it :)

The D810 with no AA filter should be pretty good for astro.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Canon kick out in the 50-60MP range without AA filter (as the rumours currently suppose).

God's own lens. Can't bear to part with mine, even though it's languished in a cupboard since I bought the Fuji....

could just loan it to be permanently instead so it can keep my 200-400 company! I miss having a 70-200mm lens since I sold my F4L a while ago to fund stuff!

:D

And there is why the EOS-M has never made much sense to me :p

I've found my EOS-M (and X-E2) work fine with long, heavy lenses- I just rest the lens on my forward hand. It's short, heavy lenses that feel more unnatural because the small body means you don't have the leverage with the rear hand.
