The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Thats an ikea top surface and ikea legs. The top surface is a composite and not the strongest so it doesn't take a hammering too well. (Hence the mat to cover the damage) It's very old now, so I doubt you can still buy them.

I've had a 'Galant' desk from Ikea for about 7 years and it's still holding up well - 120cmx80cm.

They still sell them but the range of desktops to use with the frame and adjustable legs is a bit limited now on their site :/ not sure if they're fading them out in favour of something else.

Picked up the 85 while over in NYC. Apologies for the potato pic.

Must be a problem with yours... it's not the quickest to focus, but for a 10 year old lens - it's acceptable... I've used MUCH worse.

I've not had any issues with accuracy... even peaking through to focus points that would make some other lenses hunt for ages.

Hit and miss with that lens, focuses shockingly slow and in-accurate.

infact this lens is best served on a mirrorless camera with EVF/focus peaking because its more or less a manual focus lens..

i have to say - my 85L ii focuses slowly (like they all do) but is incredibly accurate even wide open, so long as you have a steady hand. I get way more keepers at 1.2 with that than i do with my sigma 50mm 1.4 art at 1.4.

using back button af-c..

Slow and steady does it...and its hit rate is astonishing considering I shoot it wide open.

It's fast enough for most shots, so long as the element doesn't have to travel from one extreme to the other.

I shoot a lot of mirror photos with this, even through reflection and often dirty mirrors, I usually get the shot.

3Tb Fusion Drive

i purchased it with 8Gb default memory and got the 32Gb of the Jungle site for £150, saving myself apple stupidly over priced memory at £480 for the same amount

Very nice iMac, I was about to pull the trigger on that exact one straight after Christmas but I've done a U turn for now. A new monitor will suffice and perhaps a Skylake MacBook when they drop next year.

Enjoy your iMac :)

What's the main differences between the 2014 and 2015 models? I also upgraded the RAM myself, but went for 24GB (default 8 default + 16 from Crucial).

I had no intention of buying a camera on the weekend but was in a shop and needed some retail therapy so ended up buying a Fuji X100T. Love it!! I ideal for times I can be bothered to carry my DSLR or just want to do some street stuff. I was in Bath for the Christmas Market and ended up using this all weekend even though I had my DSLR in the car.
