The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Trust me, from experience, you will fill those holes....and it will get so heavy that the bag will bend from the weight. Personally I don't see that bag is suitable to be filled with glass, so as long as you don't, it is fine. By that point, you will want wheels because it just get too heavy to be lifted. For something with that much value inside, it's a job for a Pelican case. They are worth it, mine has been thrown and abused by airport bag handlers, and everything survived. The impact from their drop was so big both latches were open and only held together by my locks.

If it gets to a point where it gets heavy. It can be fitted inside a pelican style case.

Vanguard sell peli style cases with and without this "inner"

After going by the airport to take some photos of planes. I realised the supplied 16-50 zoom lender that came with my a6000 doesn't quite have the reach I sometimes needed. I got chatting to another guy there taking pics so had a lens the length of my arm almost so thought I need to up my game.... But maybe not drop a grand or two just yet.

So bought the 55-210 f405-6.3 Sony lens :D I should have just gotten the dual lens kit with the camera but nevermind.

Hopefully will be sunny on Saturday to test it out properly but like the feel of it so far.

So hoorah for first lens I've bought :) but does mean my Sony bag is rather cramped so new shoulder bag/rucksack is next :p

nikon problem

I have a problem with Nikon primes :)

Hmmm, I haven't been very active on these forums for a while (mostly on dpr), but I could have made a bunch of posts in this thread over the last half year, moving from A65 and a few lenses, to a complete Sony E/FE setup with A7Rii and a bunch of native lenses with a6000 as backup...

Tried A7ii initially, but didn't wait long to move to Rii.

My only non-native zoom is sigma 150-600mm, and I have been enjoying that immensely on the A7Rii.

Maybe will stick up a pic of it all later anyway :D

Might not seem exciting but it's one of the best bits of kit I've bought in a while. I present the Tenba DNA13 bag. Seen here a day before setting off for Hong Kong. I'd never heard of Tenba but wanted a bag with secure but quick-action magnetic buckles so took a punt.

The buckles are amazing- push off instantly with one finger, hold near the buckle and they pop on automatically, yet once attached you can't wrench the bag flap open. Additionally the bag top zips open for quick access- genius. At first I questioned the velcro on the flap and intended to pick it off, but then I tried it, and it's directional velcro- pull outwards and it rips open like any other velcro, but if you pull downwards first, it opens pretty much silently. Very clever.

Other touches are also top-notch- lots of pockets, a removable compartment with various dividers, including ones with flaps. Cleverly designed easy-attach waterproof cover included, although the bag shrugged off some pretty heavy rain without it, and the bag base is waterproof anyway so you can plonk the whole thing down in the wet without worrying. The strap comes with a detachable lanyard that allows you to keep the bag hanging behind you- useful for cycling and walking around, and I found the lanyard doubles as a useful camera leash strap when I forgot mine (I had a spare tripod screw D-ring). There's also a comfortable, detachable shoulder pad.

The only negative is I wished a few times that I'd ordered the DNA15- the 13 worked brilliantly for two X-E bodies with lenses and a spare third lens, wallet, tickets, drink, guidebook, microfiber cloth, raincoat, bag cover and a few other bits, but it was fiddly getting the cameras in and out through the top cover with the lens hoods attached. I just left the hoods at the hotel. The 15 is slightly deeper thought obviously more unwieldy. Not the bags fault though, but mine in overestimating the size. It worked great as a carry-on bag.

For me it's just an amazingly well thought out and designed bag, I'm extremely happy with it.

Was in Manchester this morning and wondered past the London camera exchange, saw two of these in the window, Nikon refurbs, graded etc.

So picked this one up, its mint, looks like new, boxed and pouch etc.

Got any pics with all your gear in the bag.

Got a new bag, was looking at those tends but wasn't overly keen on the price :p so bought one from a local shop that's got enough space for all I have so far and room for a few more :)

Hehe I dread to think. After this one if I need more space it would be a full blown backpack but that seemed(is) like total over kill for my a6000, 16-50 zoom, 55-210 zoom and like a tiny manual old school prime :p could have packed sandwiches for days though I suppose haha

Much taller, much more stable and a better head for more movement.

Hey guys has anyone heard of sigmas mount conversion service?

Im looking at getting a 150mm- 600mm lens from them but have a pentax body and heard they can do a conversion. I was wondering if it was actually a conversion or a adaptor?

http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/mount-conversion-service tells you all you need to know about Sigma's mount conversion service.

However, I think you may have a problem with your idea.

If I've read it correctly, the service is only available for their Global Vision (Contemporary, Art and Sports) lenses.

Seems ok so far, since Sigma do the 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Contemporary and the Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sport.

Both are presently available in Canon EF, Nikon F (FX), Sigma SA Bayonet mounts.

This is where you run into trouble. They're not available in Pentax mounts (which is why I think you're asking about the Mount conversion service).

According to the FAQ,

Q3: Can I request to convert to any mount of my choice?

A3: Yes, as long as the lens in the requested mount has been released by SIGMA as a product

So sadly it appears that since the above two lenses are not produced in Pentax mounts, they will not convert say a Nikon or Canon version to a Pentax version. Obviously if they did it in the Pentax mount you would have just purchased one or the other in that mount in the first instance!

Quite why they don't do those lenses in Pentax mounts is beyond me!

Looks like i should start saving for the 150-450mm or the 300mm and a 1.4tc....

Yeah sigma make most their lens for pentax accept the super telephoto lens, Its probably because mose people use the pentax cameras for portriat and landscape work, as apparently the focus speed is too bad for sports and wildlife
