The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

2 of the 4 originals are about 3 years old. To tell them apart easier now I take a knife and carve the year (17) of then I got the new batteries on the side.
quality.

Either way, when using video mode it does drain the battery nearly on same levels as my A7r2 from what i can tell.

Makes sense as the sensor is always on in LIVE view. I think that people who complain about battery life on the A7 cameras should know that if a DSLR also had to rely on the sensor being on when doing your job(video work) it does drain the battery too.

Anyways the 5d4 had a very nice usage in barcelona and going through the files i am happy so far with the results.

I've always liked a superzoom for travel, away on holidays next week. Quite impressed with a quick test, AF tracked our rabbit running around ok and sharpness is *way* better than the shoddy kit lens that I PX'ed.

I would like to add the 28 F2 at some point but for now I've hung onto my 50 Summilux for when I need something fast and light.

It's fair chunky but still....hell of a lot of camera in a small package even with that lens!

Lens is pretty good, had a few walks and it's plenty sharp all round, stabilisation is very good.

Off to a little island near Dubrovnik for a week on Sunday....forecast is clear skies all week, plenty of photo ops, including some big wild eagle owls that'll be a challenge.

Ooh whereabouts? We're heading to Cavtat in July. I've been meaning to investigate any island trips we can do from there.

Island is called Lopud, it's not far from Dubrovnik. Stayed there last year in the one posh hotel on the island, staying at a small b&b this time. It's tiny, no cars, couple of beaches, some clifftop walks. Other than that there's nowt to do other than eat seafood and drink the surprisingly good local wines at the numerous local restaurants.

A few ferries from Dubrovnik (5 euros ish each and 30-40 mins) most days so you can easily day trip there. We went there planning to use it as a base last year but never left the island all week :)

Ah yes I've heard of Lopud. Will have to see what direct ferries we can get from Cavtat. It's 40mins to Dubrovnik so two ferries might be a bit much. Thanks though.

Sony DSC HX60V

I know its not exactly willie waving material but just picked up my first ever camera (other than whats on my phone)

Cost me 199.. just need to pickup a memory card tripod and case.

Its going to be used for Family holidays for which we seem to do about 3 a year.

Trying to find an external mic for video recording and noticed Sony use a hot shoe type connector.. anyone know of any third party devices that work with this? or are they all Sony branded.

Finally took the plunge. Almost went with the A7Rii but settled on the A7ii and a 16-35 to go with it :)
