*** The new MacBook/MacBook Pro thread, all info in here ***

Mine has been shipped on the 25th of october (last saturday). Estimated delivery date 5-6 november. Just 10 more days from now :)
 
I gave up yesterday and caught a train through to glasgow for £8 to pick up a macbook & nano.

I realised today that I managed to get the student discount even though I have the same on order from the online store - I thought you were only allowed one mac per year or something - now I'm not sure whether I should cancel the online order or wait it out, get the rebate and ebay the lot of it. would probably end up shaving a couple hundred off the price of the macbook I'm keeping. Selling the nano I got with this one to my little sister for £60 :)
 
After a good night out to find that the MacBook has been shipped YAY =] Even more happy now lol it went from 7-10 Nov to 3rd Nov ETA =]
 
Mine is saying 'prepared for shipment' - that changed this morning.
ETA is still 4th/ 5th Nov. Has been for a week.

New MacBook Pro 15"
 
As an aside does anyone have an idea of how much a previous-generation (no multitouch) 2.4Ghz C2D MBP with 4GB RAM and 3 year AppleCare until late 2010 would fetch? As my new one will only be my 2nd Mac I have no idea how much they're worth come resale.
 
My macbook been shipped I ordered it took 4 days to ship which is exactly what it said.

Now the long frustrating wait will it sails round the world.

At least its not taken as long as my dell studio 15 order, which is now well over a month!

A girl i work with ordered a dell studio 15 last week and got it within 4 days, it came today!
 
Wow, 2 weeks after ordering my MBP order status finally changed!

Prepared for Shipment
Estimated Shipping: 7 business days
Estimated Delivery: 04 Nov, 2008 - 05 Nov, 2008

Im a bit dubious of it reaching me from the depths of China in a week though, how long does a typical order prepare for shipment before actually starting its world tour?
 
Well mine arrived yesterday, was scheduled for 3 - 4 November.. :D

First Impressions.....

The build quality is amazing, really impressed by it.

The keys are really nice to type on although grease prints do show up quite a lot and thats even if I've just washed my hands..

The new trackpad is really good aswell, although you have to press it harder towards the top of the pad, which isn't a major because you can still use your thumb for the clock in OSX. In windows this is a different story as 2 fingers on the pad moves the cursor from where it originally was, which I can see being a pain.

Performance wise I haven't really had a chance to test it out yet as I have been swapping the hard drive over, re-installing OSX and transferring all my files and apps over from my other macbook pro.. I'll install a few games later on and let you know how it handles, although I really have dawn of war and medieval total war at the moment.

So is anyone else finding their HDD is parking its heads a lot, resulting in a small clicking sound coming from the right side of the trackpad? Seems to be a lot of people talking about it and it seems to be an OS X thing.

How are you getting this detailed tracking info? When I log in to check my order it just says: "Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 04 Nov 2008 (Subject to change)" and that's it?

At some point soon you'll get another email saying your goods have been shipped and at that point you get a UPS tracking number. Goto the UPS website and track your order from there - that's when the detailed bit starts.

hmm thats very annoying. I was ordering three I suppose. Even so waiting more than a week for them to build a laptop or two is terrible.

Well it's their loss anyway. I would have order some more studio 15's but didn't due to the delays. HP got the business instead.
