The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

1) I have molded ear plugs for when on my bike and the volume of music is really low on the SF is there a way of turn it up more? (i'm guessing it has a soft limit on it to comply with EU regs)

There is a file that you can use to increase the sound, but believe you need to have the phone rooted/flashed first & iv not got mine rooted yet so can say if it works & it comes with mixed comments on the thread its on

Look at post 26 to find a link to the file

Hmm wanted another one, but stock seems to be getting rare !

The Jellyfish ROM uses something called smartdialer.apk as the app to make phone calls. I don't like this one as from inside the dialer you can't get to your contacts like on the default one.

Where can i get the default 2.2 dailer application?

Looking to sell my iPhone 4 as work have given me one, with that in mind I'm looking for a cheap (ish) handset to replace it with, any good reviews out there on this handset? 70 pages here is a lot of reading to do :D

The kernel source the ROM developers needed for a "proper" 2.2 has been released: http://android.modaco.com/content/z...blade-series-froyo-kernel-2-6-32-source-code/

Seb has put up an update for anyone running his r0.3 2.2 ROM so that you can update to the new kernel, apparently fixes bugs such as the LEDs not working: http://android.modaco.com/content-p...orange-san-francisco-froyo-oled-tft/page/280/

Woop to be honest :D
How long until we get a nice stock 2.2 ROM?

Do any of the newer roms (2. 2 2.3) have proper cut and paste, if so which one and link please. prefferably obe with no preinsrallled apps.

Well the Modacco 2.2 Rom I'm using stated previously in the thread does copy and paste...? And whats a 'proper' cut and paste :p

Wait...so you've been given an IPhone 4? I'd keep that to be honest....unless you really want to try Android out for the sake of it

2.1 does copy and paste but only select all. No drag box to select what you actually want.

Well...

I can select text on messages I am writing, and websites I believe...However you cant do it on received messages.

You can select all text and individual words, as well as selecting multiple words by dragging once a word is highlighted...However, being an owner of an IPhone through work its not as fluid as that, but once you know what to press its pretty simple

EDIT: Can you double click on a word and highlight it? Once you do that you can select other words by dragging (May not work in 2.1 altogether, but I never tried)

Looking like my next phone!!

Try and read some of the thread, and look for some reviews :)

I currently quite like it, some things take getting used to as its Android (If you've never used Android before) but all in all its a good phone really...Just need dedicated screen protectors and a case released for it now :p

I will say, this IS a low end phone, and the only 'issues' Ive noticed is certain levels on Angry birds getting slightely laggy...but to be honest, even my IPhone 3GS struggles sometimes :)

For the price it seems awesome, especially as i have approx £30 in my Orange phone fund!! It would then cost me £69!!!!
