The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Anyone having issues with wallpapers? It keeps demanding that I crop the image even though it is already the correct size, and I can't extend the crop box to cover the whole image. I've even tried an image 320 x 426 which should be well within the size limits and it still demands I crop that, and I still can't extend it to the full size of the image!

Driving me insane.

I think what you're describing is normal behaviour. The wallpaper needs to be 4:3 IIRC.

960x800 worked perfectly, I wasn't taking into account the fact the background scrolls as you scroll through the home screens. It needs to be 960x800 for the lock screen as well.

Question for SF owners, can your phone be put into sleep mode at any point, or only when thenscreen is locked?

I can only put mine into sleep mode when the screen lock is on, that cant be right surely?

Ive tried r2, r3 and standard Orange ROM..... starting to think an app might be stopping it..... thats if (as I would have thought!) that you should be able to put it into sleep mode at any point, not just when the screen locks???

Just signed up to the Modaco Ad Free subscription, and got access to the ROM kitchen. Very cool and easy to use, nice to have a ROM with all the good stuff preinstalled. Highly recommended for £9.99.

On mine, I just press the power button briefly and it goes into standby.

As for battery life, i have all but gprs turned off and get 4ish days out of it. probably 2 days if you use wi-fi or 3g etc. don't know how that compares to other smart phones, this is my first. :D

On the battery life, I text a lot and call quite a bit (hour or so a day I would say), and get 24 hours out of it, and then it's bedtime and it has 30%ish left, so I stick it on charge.

So it's a daily thing, but it wont run out if you forget overnight, charges quick too so you could do it during the day.

Had this phone for a week now, and love it.

Only bad points are:

Battery life - I use it quite a bit for browsing online, using maps, msn skype etc, and it probably lasts about 18 hours with average usage, which is not that good I guess, although for a smartphone probably is...im tempted to carry the USB cable around with me so I can charge it in any USB slot I see....
Slowdown - when having a few apps open, it does seem to slow down - lag a bit when typing messages etc
Camera is a waste of time as has no flash.

Everything else I love, although im seriously considering getting the Desire HD when it comes out, as I think I need something with a bit more oomph and better camera, and hopefully better battery life, but I think it will probably be similar...

I would'nt get your hopes up of the battery being amy better on the HD if you're that heavy a user your best bet is to get a spare battery and keep it in your wallet.

You're not supposed to actually use it as a phone ;)!

[I have to agree, my 8 year old Nokia sounded much "sharper"]

Now i've got my Orange sim working (it had a transport lock or something), the sound is much clearer from the ear piece but there is still a little hissing. It's definitely worse than my T640 but is acceptable.
