The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

what did you do with this? i bought the "unlock" and put my phone model number and IMEI in the "note to seller" box when i bought it.

i also sent them an email with the same details as well as the paypal payment ID to the email address they list in the auction?

I just added a note in the check out process.

I ordered at 20:12 and I got a ebay message from him at 20:13 with the unlock code.

Flashed it completely back to stock and my notification light still doesn't work properly. I don't really want to return it so I'm going to learn to live with it.

On another random note, does anyone elses number show up as "Unknown"?

Can anyone comment on the call quality of this phone? I read somewhere that it's not all that good...

It is a £100 smart phone. Quality is exactly that. You basically get what you pay for, however, what this phone does, is amazing for the money, but it isnt a Desire for sure !

Give us a clue where you got them from?

Ebay.

Tho I paid £1.65 for mine :p

My mistake, so did I :P

have you got a link please as i am not sure what to order

thanks

Go for what I ordered, great buy and feels fine after an initial 10 minutes of "this is horrible!" Goes back to the same responsiveness and feeling as before after some use.

Plus, if you get it wrong or scratch one you have another 5 to get it right with!

Would you rate it better than a Wildfire then?

Yes because
SA is faster
SA can be rooted
SA can have custom ROM's installed
SA costs £1.40 to unlock

I like my wildfire because of it's design it's solid and sits in my hand better. The SA does feel cheap but it is £100.

True, but they you start using it and you completely forget about it. It's nippiness and operability far outshine the feel of it.

Coming from the solid feel of the 3G, I'm not too fussed at all. It has given me a taste for a better spec'd Android phone though, Desire HD... mmm.

I keep thinking about selling my wildfire to get a SA.

I essentially traded my Nokia 5800 for a San Francisco and haven't looked back really, despite my notification light issues.

Android is just a much nicer place to be in terms of usability than Symbian, it's just more fun. Then there's the hardware, okay the CPU isn't the best ever but it certainly does the job and the amount of RAM for the monies is phenomenal really. I think the only thing that spoils it a bit is the camera but I've decided it is worth the sacrifice for me.

Surprisingly the performance of the CPU is far superior to the Hero. And I had mine clocked to 610/652MHz. Either the increased RAM or the upgraded architecture of the MSM7227 (or whatever, I can't be bothered looking it up) is making the software respond more like a premium device.

I managed to get the clock (called 'Fancy Widget') by scanning this,

Using a barcode scanner on my phone ( I used 'ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner') it'll take you to the widget, there will be a message warning you that the widget has been discontinued due to HTC's complaints but it still lets you download and install it.

Anyone else using the pattern unlock feature? the touchscreen keeps spazzing out and it becomes impossible to draw the pattern to unlock the phone.

I've disabled pattern unlock and everything is fine.

For those too lazy to use cashback sites and want the phone immediately, there is 10% discount on the phone with an NUS card. My uni card doesn't say NUS on it but the guy in the shop was satisfied.
