The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Im currently on R2 custom mod, how do u go about upgrading to the new Rom, not too sure how to do this, any help please

1. Install ClockworkMod: Link

2. Download the latest rom from here: Link (r3 if you don't have a paid subscription, r4 if you do)

3. Rename rom to "update.zip" and copy to SD card.

4. Start phone with VOL- pressed. When the recovery screen comes up; select "Update rom with update.zip" or something like that.

Can anyone share the full update.zip that the kitchen has created for R4?

I dont think many people would be inclind to do that as they have had to pay for it so why should anyone get it for free......

It will be out in a short time so the best option is to wait of pay £10 or so for the year, that way you could always get the rom you want when you want, if it was my phone and not the wifes id sign up immediately

My contract ends soon so if i buy this for £100 or get a discount through NUS etc.. will it be a phone that i can keep for 12/18 months without my urge to upgrade? I've currently got a nokia 5800 which is good i've not had the urge to upgrade at all.. will this be fine?

since putting R3 on, i have some strange tones, when conecting the usb, i have one of the family guy sound board tones, and some of my messages give another tone which isnt even on the phone .

anyone else got odities like this.

If you think the 5800 is good and doesn't give you the urge to update, this will satisfy you for a long time!

I owned a 5800 and found it to be a good phone all round, I think the only thing that "might" be lacking in comparison is the camera

The browser being total garbage and the sluggishness of the UI at times are what frustrated me with my 5800. Also I'm finding the capacitive screen on San Francisco to be much easier to use.

Only thing I miss about my 5800 is the battery life.

I'm on r3, is it worth paying to get access to r4? How long am I likely to wait for it to be a free release?

few days maybe? the one and only reason ive not paid is that its not my phone, i have my desire and thats better supported over at xda, but really is £10 all that much if you can get roms quicker and customised the way you want?
