Orange, who have the final say on an official Froyo release, have said no.

But Modaco are coming on well with Froyo :)
 
Has anyone/have many people experienced the coating chipping off the phone? I found some pictures of the white one over at Modaco looking a bit battered (may well have been rough-handled by people testing/reviewing though).

I read of at least one person complaining that the coating had chipped on their grey one, but they did have it in their pocket with loose coins.

The back piece is chipping quite badly on mine, but only on the top two corners.

No chipping at all on the phone body, which is weird.
Need to get round to ringing Orange.
 
Had mine for a month now and now problems at all, however I normally keep mine in a pouch, as long as you keep reasonable care of it you'll be fine
 
Well mine will be living in a pouch, so it's good to read that that seems to keep it in nice shape.

I picked up an SF earlier - next to my Legend it's a bit nasty build wise, but the screen is lovely. The Legend is smoother scrolling from home screen to home screen, so I think I'll be rooting it and will see what happens from there before I decide which I'm keeping.

I dont own one personally, but own a desire and galaxy s.
Having played with my old mans sf running the froyo alpha its amazing what a capable device it is for the money, some things run easily as quick as my sgs.
 
ordered mine today got my mum on PAYG to order it and get £30 discount so £79 inc £10 credit

quick question though. so i want to mod the firmware, move to the clean android 2.1 from that modaco website, do i need to use an unlock code from nck or wherever or if im flashing it completely do i not need to actually do that?

im moving it onto my orange contract sim btw from orange payg...

Don't need to unlock it if staying on the same network.

1) Flash recovery image
2) Root
3) Flash custom ROM
4) ???
5) Profit
 
Right, as I expected the SF is far better for browsing than my Legend.

I have one gripe so far, and that's that the phone seems a little choppy when navigating around the UI. Animation of scrolling is not as smooth as with my Legend, and playing solitaire also shows choppiness when moving cards. Has anyone else noticed this, and did it improve after rooting and installing a non-bloated rom?
 
My SF keeps ring my son when I have it in my pocket, I thought the screen was automatically locked when the phone screen goes off? If not how do I lock the phone, any help would be appriciated.
 
im chillin with the modaco r4 release at the minute. all seems good, nice andd browsing is sweet.

any free apps i should be getting for this thing?

Also, how do i obtain this free £10 credit they promised me? i registered the attached top up card but no credit so far:/ just on my local wifi at the moment.

I'm using Paul's R4 and it's much better than stock. I've cooked my own one in the kitchen. I removed a lot of stuff I don't need, and preinstalled launcher pro. Runs perfectly.

Welp £109 spent should be with me on monday. Going to sell my iphone and use this phone so hopefully it will live upto its promises.

Can someone provide me a link to get this unlocked or the link to flash this.
 
Haven't flashed mine yet, but unlocked using nck codes. There should be a link somewere in this thread. Costs $3.
