The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Assist-GPS uses about 1kb of data every time it starts up the GPS chip which has a lot more benefit than waiting for the GPS to acquire lock through the usual manual method. Honestly, never turn it off unless there is some over-riding bug with it.

How come in the phones menu it states (uncheck to improve GPS performance) ?

My daughter has managed to break the end pin of the charging socket (Micro USB socket)

What are the chances of it being replaced by orange?

Its 34 days old so cant just walk into an orange store for replacement.

The socket (on the phone) as opposed to the plug/cable? Worth a try if it broke through just inserting the cable, shouldn't exactly break easily!

I found that a empty box of 20s fits perfectly for use as a desktop stand. :p

Right i have modded and rooted mine and it is sooooooo slow :( Its no different to my Hero.
Tried looking for an Overclock ROM but cant find one, surely somebody overclocked it?
Not impressed at the moment other than the price.

i find gforums froyo rom faster than stock 2.1, there is tho an overclocked kernal, but its still a bit iffy. and has to be flashed via adb.

What rom, what apps, did you use clockwork to wipe the cache and factory reset both before and after updating the rom. This all makes a difference.

I find Sebastians r3/r4 on 2.1 the most stable and quickest but it does need the clockwork wipes before and after. I have tried all combos and this works the best. Give it a couple of restarts too.

Rang orange yesterday, they said they would get a replacement sent out for delivery today (driver took old handset with him - i kept battery / rear cover / sim / sd)

Unlocked, flashed and rooted etc already.

Spot on service from orange :)

I got one of these this week,I am very impressed with the phone for the price, but the problem I have is that I am getting a very low phone signal from orange.

In my home with my old nokia 6500s I would have 3 usually 4 bars all the time, now I usually only have 1 bar maybe 2 sometimes.Any ideas please ?

Different phones calculate the signal bars differently, do you notice a change in connectivity? Are you using 3g on both phones? Also if there's a t mobile mast near by you could try this http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18183200&highlight=Mast
