The new Samsung Odyssey G9 Mini Led

Someone answered your prayers - HUB review!

Haha I just saw that! Great review, just hope there is that firmware update that he mentioned in there that combines the colour and the peak brightness into a new mode!

Aside from that, seems really good. Though I did wish there was some more depth into stuff like PBP for example... Like can you can use it as 2 2560x1440p displays that are both 240hz separately with 2 different devices connected to it for example? IIRC the last model didnt let you do that and it was capped at 120hz or something i think

Hmm, seems that the monitor isn't tracking the eotf curve similarly to Samsung QLED TVs of the past couple years. Hoping a firmware update can fix that as it's certainly an annoying unnecessary issue that was later fixed on their high end TVs

I think the PBP is capped at 120hz from sources I've read, might be a limitation of the hardware as surely HDMI 2.1 can do 1440p at 240hz.

Pretty sure in the video they said its been capped or something? Or have slightly changed it to where it only does 144hz instead of the full 240hz.

Also PBP being capped at 120hz is so dumb... Like why?

Capping the hdmi to 144hz irrespective of chosen resolution would be annoying.

Pbp being capped must be a hardware limitation, the panel can obviously do it.

HUB review was interesting in that he mentioned you can't change the response time with adaptive sync on, same stands for the current g9 but if you turn adaptive sync off, change the response time and then switch adaptive sync back on it does save the change, as proven when I've tested with the blurbusters ufo test. Wish he'd have looked into that a bit more.

now I'm thinking if I should cancel mine and re-order with the student discount. However I won't be able to use the 0% finance options for some odd reasons
This is now available for preorder with 15% student discount, tempting!

I think you mean 10% off?

I'm not sure if I should cancel mine and order through Unidays. My Pre-order status has already changed to 'Preparing Dispatch'. I do like the idea of 36 months of 0% interest whereas for some reason I'm unable to spread payment through the student portal.

You could get a loan for three years that's cheaper than £180.

Mine is also showing "preparing despatch", however I did get the text that delivery would be on the 19th, so unless they need over a week to prepare then that's a bit misleading?

I suppose its possible, but I'm keeping an open mind. I had to wait ages to get a new RTX 3090, and then my PSU order was delayed several times, so I'm ready to wait for this monitor.

I'm just chatting with Samsung atm and they say I might even get it tomorrow, if not I may get it on the 19th. Nothing conclusive lol.
Guess I'll stick to my current order, it's too much of a hassle.

Hmm, that doesn't inspire much confidence in their logistics!
I am ****** that I forgot about perksatwork and missed a £180 discount but if cancelling my order risks having to wait months then I can accept that. These references to student discount remind me that what I have to pay to subsidise my 2 students makes £180 seem a petty amount anyway.

I did use TopCashBack which registered £51. So it isn't too bad paying in excess of £130.
It's just annoying that the student portal wasn't offered earlier this week.
