The New Stargate Universe Thread

can't believe he hasn't lost weight given they don't have a huge amount of food spare on the destiny, its not in keeping with the story.

they should all look like emaciated skeletons in reality but who cares ? :O (except you)

Was just thinking about this, it should have been part of the character that they all had to go on training, especially Eli, to better show their life on Destiny, ie low food supplies, daily training etc.

That guy has a name! I've just been calling him Curly.

Also, face at end of that episode =

I doubt very much Colonel will space them though, he just doesn't have it in him.

To be fair David Blue (Eli) looks like he's lost some weight. Although he's still a stocky man.

I don't think the food supplies are 'that low'. Remember they had over a month on that planet in Faith to gather food so i can't imagine they're still scraping the barrel to eat, although they wouldn't be pigging out either.

Looking forward to the second part of the season finale. Although once it's over there is the long wait for season 2 :(.

I really enjoyed the last 2 episodes. How many cliffs to hang from ahaha!

I must confess i watched a US version last Saturday and the Sky version is a lot more edited because i guess its pre watershed. The Syfi US one was a hell of a lot more violent but it really adds to the ouch moments that made that good.

Cant wait for series 2 - make of break for it really, lets hope they stick to the action formulae and not the Snorey teen angst acoustic guitar BS.

Yer agreed, last two episodes have been really good, and I'll certainly watch the new series when that starts, which is ages away boo.

Hopefully more aliens, interesting planets and getting control of the ship will happen in the new series, walking around moaning inbetween visiting worlds is I hope finished with.

Ahh not too far then! :)

Really enjoyed the last episode. That was one hell of a cliffhanger. I was confident that they'd wrap the whole thing up and then dial earth and then stop it as they were walking through.

Music is getting more and more "vangelis" style each episode lol incursion part 2 has a pretty epic soundtrack for the last ~7 minutes.

One thing that bugs me; the guy in the previous episode who got disintegrated - we now know that was because of a gamma radiation burst from the binary suns. I don't know enough about this to know, but it seems unlikely that he'd actually disintegrate like that (I know, it's unlikely that a Stargate and all sorts of other technology in the SG world would work like they do but still :p ).

Maybe, not being shielded by an atmosphere by a crazy dose of xray/gamma radiation bursts, in empty space. Considering some radiation is non penetrating and does burn, such a high does of the above could be possible, or I'm willing to believe it is possible.

I was really happy that they decided to use the show themes instead of haing some form of crappy goth-country and western emo rubbish playing.

Also, last episode can only be summarised in one way:

I was very disappointed with the way the Season ended. After Jack O'Neil specifically asked what's his face if he was up to it, he didn't do what he should have, when he should have, and is directly responsible for his crew dying and Destiny being compromised. He should have vented the Gate room when he had the chance :(

That was never going to happen though really, it was obvious there was going to be someone/a reason not to vent the room, killing the intruders straight away yes in real life I'm sure it would happen, even if there a was a member of your crew in there, one life against many I'm sure wouldn't be a difficult decision for the leader, but its sci fi and that would be boring.
And you could have just gone into the room afterwards with breathing gear on, pulled your dead crew member out the room and bought him back to life, as that's what young done with telford/rush in that room?

I know, but now his beeatch has been shot and she was pregnant. I liked that story arc :(

I'll guess that she lives, but looks like she'll loose the baby, assuming that was here blood around her mid section and not from treating other wounded people.

Well he did try to recover from not immediately venting the room at the start (like he should have) by attempting to raid the gate room but this failed due to the power flickers.

Not so sure which is worse, doctor mourning the loss of her child or the entire crew fawning over a baby. I guess it's dead as that's the easier story line to take (as well as removing the need to get a new baby every other week), and it's probably for the best in order to avoid another Teyla incident.

It'll be exactly that. The producers know they've done the whole baby storyline before with Teyla in Atlantis so they can't rehash old ideas. Baby dying seems to fit the bill as to whats going to happen. I'd be amazed if it survives tbh.

It was actually a real pregnancy she had a girl in December last year.

"Alaina has three children with her husband John Huffman: a son, Elijah, and two daughters Hanna and Charley-Jane. Charley-Jane was born December 8th, 2009. The latter pregnancy coincided with the first season of Stargate Universe, and was written into the plot." From Wikipedia.

So I guess it will depend on whether she wants to a) carry on and b) have the baby with her during filming.

Andi.

Yeah i know it's been known for a while, same thing happened with Rachel Luttrell (Teyla). It's a bit of a tough choice when these things happen, write it into the show, try to work around it, or write the actress out for the duration. Point is it's already been done in SGA, so i can't see them repeating the whole storyline unless they wan't to enrage long time viewers of the franchise for repeating plot lines. Killing a baby kind of adds to the gritty feel of the show as a plus. I'd be amazed if they actually killed of TJ though, although its certainly possible.

Season 1 ratings are in for those interested.
the 1st half of season 2 will determine whether its renewed for a third season. SyFy are also moving the show to Tuesdays as they've a) had more success with favourites like Eureka and Warehouse 13 on those nights. Overall Tuesdays are considered better for ratings (LOST for example). It will air along with Sanctuary and Caprica. b) WWE Friday Night Smackdown will take its place on Friday Nights.
