The New Stargate Universe Thread

Come on guys...isn't here 60 years old +?

Do you expect a guy in his old age to have a body of a 30 year old?

This fattening process is likely to happen to most of us here, when we reach his age.

Is it just me or does he seem oddly proportioned now?

Sure age and a few pounds don't help but it looks like his whole upper body is different or perhaps it's just what he's wearing.

he said he had a disease that made him retain water.

his arms look pretty normal so maybe it wasnt a joke

Just re-watched SG:U due to a slow few weeks at work, shame it was cancelled, first season started slow I admit but I thought season 2 was really good.. I thought the final episode was excellent.

Given some of the rubbish recently like Terra Nova SG:U stands up really well..

Terra Nova was dire. I think SGU would have been better if they didn't have those stones which contacted earth with them. Some of the characters were rather annoying as well. Actually, I think Rush, Eli and Lieutenant Boobs were the only interesting ones ;)

It was a poor man's Battlestar Galactica tbh.

Indeed.
Stargate is all done and dusted.
You can off course catch Amanda Tapping in Sanctuary...but its not really the same.
I saw Christopher Judge in a recent episode of Mentalist and I'm not sure what Dr Jackson is up to these days.

Havent the makers of the show completely given up? Ie. they are not even trying to pitch to other networks. The show IS dead and buried.

When the show first got cancelled and it was still running, they did offer the show to other networks and tried to make a 3rd season, but it just didnt happen. They then gave up.

At the end of the day stargate universe was rubbish and cost way too much per episode. The only believable character was Robert Carlyle's, I wouldn't be surprised if he destroyed his career being part of this show.

I'd rather see a new original series not aimed at a teen or family audience, but I really doubt that will happen anytime soon.

hes one of the main characters in "once upon a time"

The main issue I had with Universe is it just didn't feel like Stargate, SG1 and Atlantis both had a similar light hearted approach to things and Universe just seemed to try and take itself too seriously.

It wasn't trying though, that was the entire point of the show, to do something different that would have a more serious tone.

Where it failed was the poor scheduling of the show and the slow pace before it actually got going. The focus was on the very soap like relationship dramas rather than drama coming from the overall plot/mythology of the show.

If both of those had been handled differently, i think Universe would still be on the air.

Some of the best actors out there have been in some god awful shows and films or ones that have bombed for one reason or another. I doubt a show that aired for only 2 seasons would have any lasting impact. IIRC he started working in the American side of things because the British scene is pretty poor, which is kind of true.
