The Newcastle United Club Thread **No Spoilers**

TBH I’m disappointed, we haven’t addressed the fact that we have next to no pace in our team
Yes we are a little light up top but we added a double figure striker to our options.

Wood was key against Leeds. Think he won nearly every duel. Our wingers can now play on the wings instead of fullbacks.

Can't wait to see Bruno and Lord Voldemort in the middle. Frazer, Maxi, Murphy should be able to get in behind instead of coming deep for the ball.

Wilson still 3 weeks away?

Last I heard he was, apparently the New Zealand squad is in the middle of a Covid outbreak, hopefully wood isn’t effected as we won’t have a striker

Ugh would be our luck.

The last window we couldn't even afford a loan deal. Which Bruce had arranged.

Now we spent 90m in the winter window?

If we go down it's not for lack of effort from.the new board and owners.

TBH I still think we will go down, we have no pace and as long as teams put 2 players on ASM we’re nullified, which is why in my opinion it was essential we brought in someone like lingard or alli that would give other teams something to think about, and maybe give ASM some space to work.

Lingard would have been amazing but I think Manu played us like a fiddle.

They were never going to loan him to us no matter what the money. Shame the player was caught in the middle.

I still have hope we stay up lol

Yup seems highly regarded. I'm sure Brighton aren't happy.

Now I'm not quite sure on his title or what the differences are between DOF/TD lol

Think he's has a spot of gardening to do before he can get to work?

There's been quite a lot of promotion about the Newcastle ladies team since the takeover. Didn't even think we had one under Mike lol

I know it was one of Amanda's key areas she spoke about in her takeover interview.

Her hubby goes to quite a lot of their games also.

Just noticed Eddie has now beaten two managers that were interviewed for the Toon job.

Anyone that was doubting his appointment starting to change their mind?

How he also speaks to the press is quite refreshing.

Also we are starting to got get clean sheets!!!!

They'll be fine even without Tripper as the teams below them just aren't playing well enough. Going off the average, they need about 15 points from the remaining games to be safe and they've got a game in hand over Norwich.

I'm surprised how well Howe has them playing at the back, wasn't exactly his forte in previous jobs!

Think he spent some time studying with Simeone last year.

Winning the ball higher up the pitch and the defence isn't sitting as deep inviting constant pressure.

having the rock J7 sitting in front is helping lol

You will be amazed what a bit of confidence can do knowing you are the richest club on the planet that is going to have major investment.

As much as managers play an important role. Mentality is a huge factor in football and the mentality of going from Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce to super rich owners and a young up and coming manager is bound to give instant results as a lot of Newcastle players were underperforming.

It's ridiculous that it's a factor, but the team is actually fit now. The difference in energy levels between the Bruce and Howe eras, after just a few months is bonkers. Shelvey isn't gassing out after basically 20 mins and then doing something stupid\lazy. The entire team looks like it has an extra gear and more endurance.

Gutted about Trippier's injury but Dan Burn is looking pretty solid, although I expect his weakness is lack of pace. Other than that he looked composed on the ball and Targett looks pretty good. If we can stop conceding stupid goals and lose less points from winning positions that might be enough to keep us up. If that does end up the case I think we'll have 3 woeful teams below us to thank for it. The points threshold to stay up this year is looking like it's going to be a low one.
