The Newcastle United Club Thread **No Spoilers**

Nice interview from our CEO

Looks like the rumour you heard the expansion was given the go ahead may have been a little premature!
They are looking at ways to expand a stadium hemmed in by listed buildings on one side which make expansion on the current site very difficult. But it’s unique city centre location – surrounded by more than a hundred pubs – makes it irreplaceable for Eales.

“This is the place we want to be. I think the question is, ‘How do we try and make it work’,” he said.

“Hopefully it’s going to be a conundrum that is going to get harder and harder because we want to be growing the club, we want to be growing the fanbase.

“For us, it is an amazing location, an amazing stadium, but it is something we’re going to have to look at.

“We have to look at, ‘Can we expand it in anyway? What can we do?’

Anything to increase their income so they can spend, spend, spend.
Increasing revenue as all football clubs and all businesses for that matter try to do. According to the Mail Newcastle are about to employ Peter Silverstone to do just that.

Exactly, our deal with the Emirates is ending in a couple of years and they’re gonna have to pay seriously big money to keep it. It’s just the way of the business world

It's all a bit disingenuous when many of the companies are Saudi based and will likely pay over the odds, but not by too much as to arouse suspicion, for the club as it is now.

Are you referring to the stadium naming rights?

Re this guy Newcastle have appointed, I wouldn't take too much confidence based on the fact he worked for Arsenal. Arsenal's commercial performance, for a club of their size, has been terrible. They're commercial revenue isn't just miles behind the very biggest clubs but they've even fallen behind sides like Spurs and Chelsea, who historically and globally aren't as big as Arsenal.

States in the article that they are in talks with the council about this.

Before they were juggling New stadium versus staying.

Hopefully we see the club buying back the land Mike sold. The company That bought it is having spot of bad luck.

I belive the guy that designed the Spurs stadium is biting at the chomp to get a shot at it from his recent interviews.

Imagine how good that stadia would be if they did go ahead with it.

They should just build a new stadium on Hunters moor, the stadiums not exactly "surrounded by hundreds of pubs" like they claim.

It would suck for the strawberry but every other building surrounding it is pretty much student housing blocking the once great views of the stadium.

Hunters moor is just up the road and close to the motorway, has bus routes already, would have better parking than now where all the coaches and cars flood the backstreets of the west end etc.

Might give Nexus an incentive to finally get the metro going into the west of newcastle as well

Doesn't have a single weakness to his game that lad. I said near the start of the season he was the best midfielder we have had since Yohan Cabaye. I now think he's the best midfielder we've had full stop.

Should Newcastle move to the South?

LOL what planet is this guy on? Planet London

Despite how despicable you think of the oil baron owners. Cities owners have done more to the City of Manchester then the government (South) ever have. I would expect the same from the Saudi's and the North East is ripe for investment.

Top players have gone to United for decades and Manchester is not really any different to the North East in terms of climate and what it offers. That guy is totally deluded as the North is a far more beautiful place than the south. The only reason you live down south is to make money which the footballers have no problem doing up North.

When was the last time Newcastle had 3 players in the player of the month award, I fully expect us to do a clean sweep this month with Eddie being manager of the month, miggy getting player of the month and miggy‘s goal against Fulham to be goal of the month. But we all know what comes next when managers win MOTM

Aye kiss of death. Two own goals and a sending off at Southampton this weekend.

Just watched that video above, well 5 minutes of it. No surprise seeing Richard Keyes talking rubbish and the two ex players disagreeing with him. What a clown.
