Didn't Nokia use a 300MHz processor inside the N80? Its up from the 200Mhz (or around that) in the 6630/6680/N70 so its not good to hear that its still slow.

Your feedback is appreciated Spawn - have been waiting for the P990 for ages, and my patience was begining to fade after having a quick play with an N80 the other day.Spawn said:Looks like i am definitely sending this phone back, it crashed badly this morning and the only way i could get it back up and running is by physically taking the battery out...it wouldnt shut down the stupid thing. To me it looks like Nokia didnt upgrade the cpu in this phone...its struggling to open apps now and making calls takes about a min or so before it opens up the contacts menu.
Looks like ill be waiting for the P990 instead now, hopefully it will be a hell of a lot faster than this phone. Nokia really hasnt got a clue when it comes to making their series60 phones faster and more efficient.

I must admit I am a bit of an SE man - haven't had a Nokia in years, although I was very pleasantly suprised by the build quality on the N80 I played with - seemed very solid and the parts seemed tight fitting and well engineered - not like the Nokia I remember of old.
I think however your feedback has prompted me to stick with my original plan of the P990 - there are certains things I am just not sure I could live with with the N80 - not least the lack of readily available or user updateable firmware given the apparent bugs with it and the reported poor battery life.
Ok then, well i just phoned them and they said they should have them back in stock in the next 7 days but could be as much as 14 days.BaZ87 said:Anyone know when CPW (online store) are getting the black one in stock?

Don't think I'll bother with the N80 then as those niggles would drive me mad.
Looks like I'm waiting for the E60, P990, MDA Vario II or the SE Walkman phone with jog dial and touch screen (can't remember the model number!).

No slow menus here, no crashes as of yet, sorry to here about your problems but i charged mine for 24 hours without playing with it and Its been on 3 days with camera use etc and it still has 2 bars.
Spawn said:At the moment the gps software probably wont work from what i have been reading as developers havent ported it over for the 3rd edition of the S60 3rd edition software on Symbian OS . But i would hope soon there will be quite a few apps soon.
LeoWyatt said:You can get tomtom for the S60 symbian software yes. I wouldn't see a problem with it though, you might want to check tomtom and see if they list the n80. It works a treat on the n70![]()
Hmmm verrrrryyyyy interesting, thanks for that. Having a look at my black one there seems to be nothing of the sort on my phone. Where that link says there should be a light sensor...well on mine its an LED which flashes blue on and off if the power save function is on. So either they didnt put it on the final versions or they messed up somewhere along the line. Could be that model thats shown on the nokia's site is not a uk spec phone.
