Had lunch today at the new Smash Burger in Glasgow :)

I had the Tagais Stack. Had smoked Applewood bacon, cheddar cheese, haggis, fried egg and BBQ sauce. I also had a slice of American cheese added. Enjoyed it! And their unlimited Coca-Cola fountain is good too. I had coke zero with orange syrup and grape Fanta :D

Went to Deeserts a couple of hours later to try their cookie dough. Came with a Nutella swirl, smarties and vanilla ice cream. Absolute heaven! :D

The burger looks nice apart from the egg, I hate it when the edge of eggs get burnt/crisp like that.

The desert looks amazing though :D

I like an egg with a crispy edge. A crispy edge with runny yolk is the pinnacle of egg frying. A talent mastered by a very skilled few. I call these people, The League of Eggstraordinary Gentlemen.

Lol :D

Crispy edge is easy just leave the egg in the pan longer. The runny yolk is easily done by just using your ladle and flicking the hot oil over the yolk.

But flipping hot oil over the yolk will cause it to cook more quickly. And possibly end up with a hard yolk.

There's two correct ways to fry an egg. One; more slowly in lots of butter. Two; on a high heat in oil whilst doing the above.

The first results in a nice silky egg cooked fairly evenly all the way through, the second should give you a nice crispy underneath.

I've never ended up with a hard yolk by flicking oil over the yolk. You can see when it's cooked because it starts to change colour slightly and the white changes it's consistency from being runny to white. This is how I've always done it. I also never leave it on long enough to get a crispy yolk as it I hate it.

It's a good way to cook an egg but I was more correcting your assertion that you flip hot oil over the yolk "to get a runny yolk". Flipping hot oil over the yolk cooks it, is all. If you do it too much you will get a hard yolk.

Went and broke my Wagammamamamas cherry on Saturday night whilst visiting Wembley. Aside from flicking a bit of onion onto a nearby table with my clown use of chopsticks we all had a great time and I was amazed at how delicious the food was. I opted for a Chicken Chilli Ramen and wasn't disappointed. Definitely visiting this place again for sure.

I love Wagamama, however I find them hit and miss. I recall some meals i come away licking my lips but some times it taste merely above a packet of ramen at home. I am off to Japan next month and I fear that when I come back it will just be a constant disappointment from here onwards.

Mmmm ramen *drool* I'm in the enviable position of working within walking distance of Kanada-Ya, Shoryu, Ippudo, Bone Daddies, Tonkotsu... :o

Having said that the spicy ones at Wagamama are actually alright.

Indeed. My brother in-law that night tried the Firecracker Curry I believe but he couldn't handle the heat and didn't finish it. The missus, who was also new to the place didn't enjoy her vegetarian curry thing whatever that was. That Ramen though...left an impression on me for sure. I envy your position to be visiting Japan, the place seems absolutely amazing and I'd love to visit there one day...amongst many other places.

Thanks to the stupid bus breaking down on the way to work I had no time to get any food at Greggs. Failed at buying food during my 15 minute break due to a long queue in the canteen, plus them running out of chips and needing time to make more. Also I had no loose change, so I couldn't even get anything from the vending machines!

Picked up a beef fried rice with curry sauce on the way home. Woofed it down! Food tastes amazing when your really hungry.
