The **Now Eating** Thread

I'm talking about the edges, that's crispy no? it looks it, I've never had eggs with chilli oil though. Yours was the same as well, with the ketchup in the pot lol.
The edges is crispy but not burnt, it’s not even black. It’s about 5 more mins cooking away from burnt.

You can’t have crispy without some colour, it’s call the Maillard reaction.

I know what the Maillard reaction is, I wasn't asking for a science lesson. I was asking why people have burnt/crispy eggs.. the crispy bits are vile! not even edible when they're like that.. completely ruins the egg.

Because they taste good, we do it because it’s nice, it’s a good contrast with the soft eggs. We have different taste, and it’s not burnt. It’s not even close.

This is burnt eggs

I said burnt/crispy. Pick one.

We have different tastes indeed, like raw fish, I find it disgusting. But I'm not Asian.

To me, this is a perfectly cooked egg:

This is a British version of a fried egg, that is an Asian version of a fried egg which is sitting on an Asian dish...sorry for stating the obvious.

What you are doing is me going "why is that egg raw? It's disgusting!" and not understand different cultures/cuisine cook differently and appreciate food differently.

I'll throw in that I do my eggs without crispy edges, because my OH doesn't like them, but given the choice, I would do more with crispy edges as they add another texture and flavour and really suit some dishes.

I wouldn't say it was just British, I think most western countries have their fried eggs like this. USA call it "sunny side up/over easy".

I am not really accustomed to Asian foods, particularity Japan etc, only because some of it sounds revolting, eg: Shirako (Fish Semen) but some of is probably really nice, I doubt that is though

How did your mind jump from eggs to Fish semen? I mean it's clear your food horizon needs to broaden, in order not to call things you don't understand wrong or disgusting, just because it is outside your comfort zone.

And how do you jump to the extreme end? Like you think the Japanese eat fish semen everyday. They don’t even eat sushi everyday, not even every week.
Nah I'm good thanks, I'll keep to my British palate. You can keep your fish ***** mate.

It is evident that the problem is you, not the food.

And you can eat more jelled eels lol

British palate lol, the British palate is mocked the world over…(in a way it’s underserved but…with attitude like this, no wonder)
