The **Now Eating** Thread

Just tried my first attempt at slow cooked spicy asian beef. (slow cooker)

Didn't trust it in the slow cooker whilst at work as it's a sticky sauce.

Will post a picture tomorrow night when it's reheated and with rice/spring onions to top

500g braising steak
1 onion
1 cup water
4 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon chilli flakes
1 table spoon ginger powder
1 table spoon sesame oil
4 tablespoons dark soy
6 tablespoons light soy
5 fresh peppercorns blitzed
2 tablespoons corn flour mixed in

all in at the same time

cook on medium for 4 hours (low for 6)
tea cloth over mixture for last 1 hour with lid on top (reduces the sauce without losing heat)

finish with fresh spring onion

Sounds tasty - looking forward to the pics :)

Had Posh Spice (giggity) macaroni cheese at Camden lock market, well and salted chocolate brownie and mulled wine, but no pictures of them.

Did you enjoy the market then?

Yeah, it's an interesting place, all though a lot of the stalls were below oar, had loads if free tasters. Most people were wondering around with Chinese or Thai filled foil trays, certainly good bang for buck, but the free samples I tried were very average and very greedy.
Mac and cheese was good, still prefer plain though, and the salted chocolate brownies were to die for, that crispy outer, gooey decadent centre.

Still prefer borough market as there's ingredient type stalls to take home.

Went to http://www.kerbisher.co.uk/

Compared to normal fish and chips it's pretty darn good, crunchy chips for a change, still same problem as 99.9% of southern places, tasteless vegetable oil which adds nothing.

Pale ale on it's own was a bit watery, however when combined with the food, really was a great refreshing match that vita through the salty oil.
