The **Now Eating** Thread

God that looks good,

habanero chili on a baked sweet potato.
found out that asda does crushed habanero flakes.

I also like how carb alternatives are getting popular.
sainsburys is now doing butternut squash noodles.
Tesco carrot noodles and cauliflower "rice"

and everyone does zoodles.

did try getting a spiralizer and not only was it useless, you waste so much of the veg.

Good quality sweet potato fries are absolutely awesome. Nutritionally they're better than regular chips but in terms of taste I'd say they are different rather than better - I love both.

this,

would have oven roast sweet potato chips on a regular bases taste amazing, oven roasted chips taste like cardboard, and save proper chips for the odd occasion, down the chippie, when out etc.

Are evening carbs bad? They give you bum aids?

I was always under the impression that the accepted wisdom was that carbs in the evening were bad for weight loss. Having just done a quick Google, it would appear this is not actually the case and the opposite may well be true. So much for that idea. Shows the value of proper research.

Wish I'd had tatties now :(

carbs are still bad for weight loss, they add a lot of calories, are very bad at making you feel full and can cause insulin spikes.

which are why low carb diets in the short term work so well. just hard to stick to.

kcal in vs kcal out is king so you still did yourself a favour by having a low calorie meal that was delicious and nutricious.

That's the basic principle I'm going by; although I am trying to get myself used to eating less carbs in the long run as that is where the majority of my Calories come from.

Have you started logging your food accurately? You might be surprised by what your current intake is like. I certainly was at least.

Even if it's not something you plan to do long-term it's a great way to really make you understand what you're eating and you can quickly learn habits that you'll keep in mind when you stop.

I'm using http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/ to log my food and exercise. I've used it successfully before - at least as far as losing weight goes. Maintenance is obviously something I struggled with.

I've not used that myself but I'm assuming it's similar to MyFitnessPal in terms of logging.

I also struggle with maintenance to be honest. My weight tends to yo-yo pretty badly. As I eat quite a lot and exercise quite a lot if I stop paying attention to both of those the combined effect is quite pronounced.
