**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

hows it a myth lol :p

go on nvidia forums there are numerous threads showing and proving the difference !

i spoke to a technician at nvidia the other day who took all system specs to try and get to bottom of it.

i showed him the big threads on nvidias own forums which they ignore showing the problems.

from 344.11 to current upto date drivers there are varying brightness/gamma differences.

I have 2 identical Asus monitors, 1 AMD rig with an 8350 and 290X, An Intel rig with a 4790K and 980.

I setup both system side by side with the same colour and brightness settings on the monitors etc... and there was no difference at all between AMD and Nvidia.

It's children playing fantard as usual.

Hopefully this is the right place to post this, apologies if not.

I've been trying to update my drivers to the new 350.12 version but I'm having issues. When I try to install them it gets to the 'installing graphics drivers' part and the screen goes black along with that 'something has been disconnected' sound (like when you unplug a USB device) and the monitor goes into standby mode. I have to boot into safe mode and the graphics card does not show up in device manager, and the only way to get it recognized again is to system restore to before I attempted the driver update. It appears that trying to install the new driver disables my card but doesn't re-enable it. If I reboot the computer it's fine until it gets to the Windows log-in screen where the screen goes black and the monitor again goes into stand-by mode (but I can still hear the Windows start-up sounds etc).

I've attempting the installation multiple times, uninstalled my current drivers before attempting the new ones, tried it from safe mode, reseated the graphics card, etc. I'm outta ideas, so any help would be appreciated.

Some info:

Card: GTX570
Current drivers: 314.22 (14/03/2013)

fantard i have a amd rig at side of my other pc with nvidia card in lol. you don't have to agree there is a difference. its already been shown there is.

Nothing has been shown, as you can see the vast majority here disagree with you, those who can see a difference it's either placebo or there's some setting or corruption causing the difference for them.

nVidia forum is full of PEBKAC.

okay no bs who can tell the difference between amd drivers and nvidia ?

i cant believe so many cant spot the differences.

AMD has a sharper more vibrant image. Nvidia has a softer look.

Because there is no difference, like myself and others have said before. I have previously had two identical professionally ISO calibrated monitors side by side on amd and nvidia and they were identical.

Years back there used to be a difference.

I used to find ATI gpus had a sharper image and Nvidia was softer.

However in the last five years or so I haven't seen a difference.

The best place to spot the difference was actually on the desktop looking at text for me.

Only my personal experience.

I have this very week gone to my MSI 780 as I was using an MSI AMD 290X ( 8Gig)...and the only difference I have seen is that when I have finished a round in BF4 I dont get " BF4 Has Stopped Working" when using my 780...this only happens when I'm using AMD....been like that for a few months...and also when having Mantle on the game stutters a bit .

It's a complete myth, The only time there are colour difference are because of monitor calibration or via the driver suit.

Can't agree on it being a complete myth though as mentioned not tried those particular GPUs, Over the years I've compared 6xxx v 4xx cards before, 4870 v 260 and a couple of other combinations I can't remember and while subtle have definitely seen differences in otherwise identical settings. Its not glaringly obvious but once you see it you can't "unsee" it - brighter reds and patches of dark grey with black detail are the most noticeable.

EDIT: Unless its a peculiarity of the game Dishonoured was the last time I had a look at them side by side (all my comparisons have been in game however rather than a reference image on the desktop).

Do you not think the quality of your monitor has a lot to do with how the drivers perform regarding picture quality.

Over time l have upgraded my monitor and could definitly see a good improvement in picture quality.

You only get what you pay for.

Their is a difference, its was easily noticabile to me when i swapped out my 660 to a 280x and then again from the 280x to a 970.

Personally i preferred the default image produced by the AMD cards, but by faffing about in NVCP/monitor settings you can get it just about the same anyways. No big deal really imo
