So I've not been keeping up to date on Nvidia drivers, but have heard that the last few have had their issues?
What's considered the best driver for GTX 980s on Win7?

So unbelievably frustrated by these TDR errors (event ID 4101). Only had my 980 Ti two weeks and I can hardly get through one round of Battlefield 4 before it crashes.
I've tried 350.12, 353.38 and 353.49 and they all exhibit the same behaviour. Is Windows 10 any better for stability?
I see people are trying drivers past 353.30, where are they? I can only find that for windows 10 on their site

Thanks I haven't tried it, but I'll add it to my arsenal.
I think I may have partially found the cause. Last night I killed all chrome.exe processes, didn't open AfterBurner, and FireStrike Ultra looped successfully all night. It usually crashes after an hour or so.
I've started the loop again with Chrome open in the background (hardware acceleration disabled), but AfterBurner is still closed. One of those two applications is making it crash, so I hope to find out today which one it is.
Its definitely chrome.
I'm sure they said it fixed some of the tdr issues with chrome.

Are you using 10166? That's the latest Windows 10 version and should solve most issues.
But yeah, I'm using 353.49's and they work fine.

So far no driver has stopped responding with multiple browser windows open using 353.00 and an MSI Afterburner polling rate of 4000-5000 ( Over 2 hours )
I have only really had a crash to desktop and driver stopped responding message maybe twice since getting my 980Ti a month ago, but I don't use Chrome I use Firefox.
Only issue I have is occasional micro stuttering in games like Assassin's Creed Black Flag.
FireStrike Ultra was still looping after 4.5 hours with Chrome open. I can only assume that it's AfterBurner causing the crashes then.
When I have AfterBurner open, I don't change any settings, and I don't use the overlay. I simply leave it running in the background with default settings so that I can see how the card performed after I've finished playing.
Might try EVGA Precision and see if it exhibits the same behaviour.
EDIT: Gonna try this first:
