**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

This is beyond a joke, thought I would reinstall The Witcher 3 and try and get back into it but literally within seconds the PC crashes because of the Nvidia drivers - Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Even if it recovers which is rare it makes little difference because a hard crash is inevitably around the corner!

Worst still, Windows 10 keeps forcing latest hotfix drivers onto me so I cannot even revert to older ones

Why can't things just work the way they are supposed to!

353.62 fixes graphics corruption in Windows 10, but you can't exactly easily install the driver atm. Current method needs test mode to be enabled and a hacked driver. I am amazed how bad Nvidia's driver situation is right now tbh. What is going on lol. You can't even revert to an older driver in Windows 10 because 10 update will force the broken Nvidia drivers on you if you uninstall them..

I have been an ATI user for the past few years after quite a while away from Nvidia and I never experienced anything quite like this. But then I saw the 980Ti and wanted to join the green side again but so far it's pretty much been a big disappointment.

I'm sure there will be ATI users laughing pretty hard right now at Nvidia.

And people were laughing at me because I have a problem with Windows automatically applying updates in 10 without the ability to skip them, etc.

My 980ti hopefully arrives wednesday, sounds like fun and games in store for drivers that according to one of the nvidia reps "just work".

Downloaded 353.49 to see how those work. Roll on wednesday.

I've got literally 70+ of crash free gaming on the Witcher 3 with Titan X and over about 5 different driver releases in Windows 10

I'd say its an underlying problem with your system or perhaps too much GPU overlooking (Witcher 3 is apparently more sensitive to this than most games)

Shouldn't GPU-Z say DX12 not DX11.2 under Windows 10 ?

This is strange because it's unlike Nvidia.
I've never had driver problems before.

Its a strange one - based on everything I've seen I can only assume somehow recent drivers are toppling cards that were previously marginal for stability at the best of times.

Those reporting game crashes get crashes with system at stock. Obviously people try lowering clocks and stock speeds to determine what is causing the crashes. It's established at this point that Nvidia drivers are causing drivers crashes on systems at stock. This is def a driver problem for people not pebkac.

My problem is Windows 10 drivers, graphics corruption. Screen shift, mouse cursor distorted. Basically the worst problems with drivers I've experienced in all the years I've been using PC's. Never really had any major problems with either AMD or Nvidia drivers until the 353 drivers crawled out of hell and onto my PC :p

With the older 353 driver I got many crashes with games and browser especially Witcher 3 but the later hotfix fixed that for me on Windows 7.

These Windows 10 problems are a whole different ball game :D. Problems just at desktop lol. Never had driver this bad before. Fun times lol.

Hopefully by the 29th Nvidia will have a working Nvidia driver to save a bit of face for the Windows 10 launch.

No idea mate, just noticed I've lost CUDA as well. Awesome stuff Nvidia lol.

Yet here I am on the 350.12 drivers with locked volts at load and have been playing nearly all week without a single issue. Hell I was playing Arma 3/BP from 4pm till 11pm today and The Witcher 3 from 11 - 12.30am . On the 353.51's I was having a grey screen of death every 20mins, on the 353.41 every hour, on the 353.38 the odd TDR and the 353.30 every 30mins on the Desktop. Stock and clocked.

I never ever had any issues previous to the 353.x, the exact same time after they fixed the kepler performance issues, that those users were complaining about in previous drivers.

A very happy gamer now, I wasn't before thanks to a MR_D.

This is and I repeat 90% related to Nvidia and their drivers, it is NOT a hardware fault, this has been proven

I just wonder how long before the "green faithful" conveniently forget all about these series of bad drivers and go back to preaching the gospel of nvidia drivers being the inventor of sliced bread, and amd's the bringer of the black death.:eek::p

Funny thing perception - aside from 1-2 people who I don't think even post here any more I've never seen anyone claim nVidia drivers are trouble free but that is often how its seen by certain groups.

Its a well perpetrated myth spread over numerous tech forums, and the sad thing is it stems from pre radeon 9700 days. Ati buying artx really brought in some people with their heads screwed on for drivers and they got better from that point onwards. Rev Lebaredian of nvidia was quoted as saying "nvidia drivers just work" on the no bs podcast for example.

Just shows how long a bad rep can stay around, much like a bad smell, but some people will still say "but i heard amd drivers bla bla bla" when looking advice for a new card.

Still be interesting to see if i encounter any issues come wednesday :p
