**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

I simply have not had a stable card in many games, when my card (many others as well) drops below 1 volt it caused driver instability.
It has fixed all my crashing issues with GTA and Elite dangerous.
It's locked it at my stock boost of 1397, which is more than enough for awesome game play. Also as Greg said, it enables great clocking for bench marks, which I only do now after driver updates. 13698 fire strike get in LOL

I love my card but the voltage issue was a real problem and I am not wiling to mod my Bios. Neil Modded this and has great stable performance, K Boost does it great for me.
There are lot's of Maxwell users out there with the same issues as me. so it is not my card before anybody says so! :D

It might have something to do with the power management of Maxwell, you only have to look at reviews to see the power consumption varies hugely from one card to the next.

Its not working as well for some cards as it is for others so perhaps thats why some are more challenging than others.

I think i got lucky with mine, it seems to be behaving impeccably.

Makes a change, usually i'm not that lucky ^^^^^

Bang on. I could predict when it would crash and that was borne out via AB

There are lots of stuff about GPU boost n all. However the power saving in using it it is so negligible for me that I don't see the need TBH.

I don't think it should be lucky either. I am hopping mad that I have to do it as the card should work as bought. However it will not be an RMA (OCUK said iit would not) as it is impossible to test as the card does work well when not in certain games.

Any way, happy with my constant 60 FPS in GTA all maxed except for grass n post FX :D

Ekkk

It works as it should out of the box tho right?

Sometimes its also a problem with the game, coders are getting lazy.

Nice score :)

Well that is the thing. It does work as expected. The only games it does not (so far) is GTA V and Elite dangerous. Both of which is when the card is throatled and then back to full power... Hence it was predictable.

I had a long discussion with the Elite devs and they could replicate the issue as it happened after patch 1.2.2. Yep it was a coding issue. However they could not or would not change it so the advice was to downclock the card as I had demonstrated to them.

Same with GTA V crashed on release, then a patch it was fine then crashed then fine then crashed. Always when the voltage dropped below 1 volt.

They have never admitted anything but accepted my work around with down clocking. (below base of 1200 MHz both games performed without crashing) however again, why should I down clock.

I am sure it is a code thing as it was always a D3D error that caused the instability on both games. GTA was the worse by a country mile as it would be fixed and then break again.... Last Ill gotten gains was the tipoping point for me. 1st was great, no crashes at all, second did not get past the first mission completion Online.... Hence K Boost. Switch it off and it will crash, switch it on and not a crash since.

Cheers :D very proud of that score! done on 355.82

There does seem to be some issues with experience and NVCP.

I just uninstall and DDU and it rights itself on the install.

Also

Running 355.82 and no issues

Still have my clock fixed with K Boost and not had a crash in weeks....

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't bother me too much, though it if does start to grate me as time goes by, I'll try DDU (during the installation of my Nvidia card last week, I simply uninstalled the AMD drivers - nothing else). Otherwise everything is great.

Crashed again in 353.62 - inside Far Cry 4, however this time it was not as fatal as before - was able to kill process and desktop is OK, before crash required reset. Going to downgrade again, can't say I am very happy! :( Downgrading to 353.30

Had crash with that driver too, but problem with Far Cry 4 appears to be fixed - had to disable NVIDIA GameWorks stuff - used to have it on with old 980 last year, but it's possible game updates since then ruined things.

well it seems it must be something on the hardware side for me. i have done a fresh install of windows then updated to windows 10 installed the latest drivers and now it crashes just the same as it has since the drivers i stated in a previous post.

read up that it might be because im not using an X motherboard. that is correct i am on a p8z68.

EDIT - problem with Kboost is some games really dont like overclocking tools, even if they are just for monitoring. eg. heroes of the storm - the mouse freezes on the screen when precision x is on.

My GTX980 G1 will not take ANY overclocking in Windows 10, rock solid at stock, but used to clock to 1440+ in Windows 7 before the drivers went off.
Is anybody else having the same issue?

I can still over clock fine in Win 10. I would say with the newer drivers it is more stable than 7. I have posted my highest score and clocks since I upgraded. Not on AB though.

Now, not to sound like a broken record.

Have you tried OC using just K Boost? All my recent Benchmarks are done using that and not AB.
I fix the clock at my desired OC and it is great.

Just a warning to whoever installs geforce experience beta - there is an issue where it'll downclock your gpu for some reason.

Mine went from 1500 core and 8000 memory to 1130 core and 6800 memory.

Uninstalled and works fine again.

The last game I had trouble with, (GTA5) is now absolutely flying after the latest patch, I'm back to being totally happy with the performance I had under win 8.1. It's also so much quieter using aios, haven't been able to get them above 54 degrees running games.
