Nvidia Geforce 364.72 Drivers Come With Plenty Of Issues

Might be even killing some graphics cards

It appears that Nvidia can't seem to get a break when it comes to drivers as the last Geforce 364.72 WHQL-certified drivers are apparently killing some graphics cards.

According to Nvidia Geforce forums posts, there are multiple issues with the latest Geforce 364.72 WHQL-certified drivers where users with random graphics cards are reporting freezes and crashes as well as dead graphics cards after installing the latest Geforce 364.72 WHQL-certified drivers.

To be fair, some users are reporting that they have no issues whatsoever so it does not seem to be fixed on a certain system or certain graphics card series.

There is a 25 page long thread on Nvidia's Geforce forums so you might want to check it out before installing the latest drivers from Nvidia. Also, you can check out a Reddit thread that talks about the same problem.

Nvidia Geforce 364.72 WHQL drivers were released a few days ago and brought a couple of improvements including support for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive VR headsets.

Anyone getting issues with installing any Win 7 Nvidia drivers recently. It used to be you could reinstall over the top on Win7 then restart it always worked now I get the dreaded generic Install Failed message & the Nvidia driver logging does not help. The only fix I found was to reinstall the OS then when I try to put the latest Nvidia drivers on a few hours later it says failed again yet a few hours earlier the previous driver installed with no errors!

Win 10 drivers are borked as well if you select clean install it does not work you have to install over the top!

I just updated several windows 7 systems to 364.72 then rolled them back to 361.43 just incase there actually is a wider problem with the .72 without any issues at all - none of them had any issues with .72 either but ideally would rather avoid any problems.

I was getting crashes with these new drivers, looking around the net a lot of people are having trouble, I even tried my card and stock and it still happened.

362.00 seem to be the most stable, and strangely The Division runs better on them.

No problems here either.

My bet is that 90% of people with issues are running 'stable' OC's on their GPUs or CPUs.

I've been running everything at stock for months now( and never once OC'd my GPUs ) and the NV drivers have been a nightmare for myself and many others. Not only the NVIDIA forums aflame, but so is the Adobe support ones and the only two common parts for all of them are Windows 10 and NVIDIA Drivers.

My Strix 980 has literally just died right now, 2 days after updating to latest drivers, I've been getting flickering of my screen and no temp readout, 2 of the DP's are broken and the 3rd seems to have just gone. Not sure about HDMI, testing now.

No idea if it's to do with the above driver, but either way my GPU is going to have to be RMA'd.

regarding tthe drivers im at the point where if the drivers break my card's so be it, it will be nvidia fault & i will get replacements.

im not going out my way to break them. but if this driver breaks them well.. so be it

Strange, on my Win10 with NVME drive with these drivers I have had zero problems.
