**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

The drivers probably just switched the sound over to the HDMI, so i won't be installing the HDMI driver anymore, ive no need for it anyway. :)

EDIT:

Its a Windows thing, switching the sound, what a surprise ey :p

So i have bought a 1660 Super Gaming X after about 10 years using AMD GPU's.

Any tips on driver optimisation settings for gaming would be really appreciated. Already set a couple of things to the obvious, just want to make sure i get the most from this :)

The MSI Gaming X is a nice little card, very quiet and i see it boosting to 1980 on the core, not messed with overclocking, maybe sometime in the future as it seems to be performing nicely at 1080p.

Cheers in advance :)

Does your Freesync monitor (looking at your sig) support Gsync?

go into nvidia control panel and enable it :)

Freesync seems enabled with Arma 3 and DayZ according to the monitors OSD.. happy Dayz :D

:) yeah freesync is excellent and makes things much smoother. i wouldn't have moved to nvidia if they didn't enable it. nvidia's control panel looks so dated though compared to amd's.

I've had this issue for a while now where I would lose sound and have to reboot. I was only using the sound on my Predator monitor and since I,ve got some speakers its not happened but did used to happen quite a bit.

Where is your other post on topic (I looked at first page of your post history and do not see it)?

Is your Monitor G-Sync or G-Sync Compat, I am on same driver and do not see anything pop up (Hardware Module G-Sync+Titan Xp)?

Not had time to investigate Windows 10 yet but seems there is something badly broken at a low level with any driver since 430.86 on Windows 7 - I think in an attempt to fix some of the G-Sync stuff that Microsoft keeps breaking in 10 they've messed something up in 7 compatibility - causes some DPC latency spiking, weird framerates in certain applications that use hardware surfaces in 2D and/or applications that use 3D viewpoints on the desktop and on some versions an eventual hang in rendering hardware accelerated surfaces.

Hey Rroff hopefully xmas went well for you, I was thinking about this over xmas as my Win10 install is still untouched but 1903 is very broken. The latest driver .66 is it? That was the first Nvidia driver to NOT give red Latencymon warnings but still from my old 1606 build and GTX 1080 i went from 55us max to consistently 130us while gaming and playing music. And when i installed this DCH .66 driver i noticed no more lag when choosing a games profile but it now flickers for a second or two. And there was no control panel either for this driver, As i suspected you need Microsoft store to get it.

So Microsoft did have a biased reason to force DCH, As when i had it disabled before i had one less thing running but as usual now its +1 process and with Microsoft in charge those +1 add up from 39 processes active while gaming on Windows XP to 109 on W10. And when they decided to not support future processors on older builds as well this is the future which is a really bad thing. Still though i have decided to stay with this pig and try to clean it up the best i can.

Oh and Freesync on Nvidia will not work on Windows 7 either which reminds me so even if you have some games with Direct X 12 and 3x less system latency you probably as some point will upgrade and everyone will be forced into this. Also for anyone reading this and wondering did i disable the new dynamic tick feature yea i did and confirmed it with a CMD
/BCDEDIT and there is no difference its is just a massive downgrade when you install anything from Microsoft past the 1803 builds.
