**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

So running LatencyMon on the 528.24 drivers that i have stuck with for ages, i was seeing these bars go into the red on highest measured ISR and DPC and that was just with playing some Twitch streams.

Just installed the latest 536.40 (Clean Driver), had LatencyMon running for 2 hours, watched Twitch videos again and then streamed a game on Twitch for an hour (using NVENC & best settings for quality @8000kbps)

Stream was very smooth while watching it back on my PC.

Here is the result with the 536.40 drivers.. is this still high or does this mean it is stable now?

I have not noticed any issues that I would attribute to DPC latency but the fix shouldn't be in yet going by what was posted earlier in thread

536.40 drivers gave me a random black screen at desktop, rolled back to previous version.
Funny enough I was getting crashing to desktop in cod with these drivers too. Rolled back to previous like you and its been perfect like usual ever since..

deffo an issue with these drivers as few friends have reported the same..

The DPC latency issue can cause random audio crackles i very specific frequencies, mostly male vocals in certain content, mostly videos and rarely ever in music. I notice it in movies someimes or even youtube videos where there is a male vocal talking, some low peaks can be clipped and it happens on multiple sources so isn't just one specific content creator.

Most people wouldn't notice it or even care, but being a bit of an audio nerd for detail, I tend to pick up on the slightest of quirks in audio presentation.

I've noticed it on all nvidia drivers since the issue was first reported years ago but don't recall ever encountering it on AMD cards I've had in the past. This happens on any output medium connected to the PC, onboard soundcard, optical out to my DAC, USB Async out to my DAC etc etc.

I'm still on the latest Studio driver though, no issues otherwise.

DPC Latency was fixed many drivers ago after lots of reports... Then out of the blue it started to appear again and got worse with every new Nvidia Driver

I'd expect that considering they slowly but surely add more and more to the driver. If we want a driver that is completely fixed of the DPC bug then I'd wager we'd be waiting 3+ months between driver releases.

What's the point of these?

I had a bit of a nightmare with drivers and a windows update recently.

Got a old 780ti in old pc. (got new pc etc but anyhow)

So i had some updates install last night, then i did the shutdown and update option, this morning nvidia control panel wasnt available, drivers wernt working Code 43 and i tried ddu a few times and changed driver from 4xx to another 4xx, nothing was working so i thought probs one of them updates.

Anyhow i was right, but i cant remember the update it was a cumulative one and at the end i think it was 88xx.

Anyhow just thought id let ppl know incase they update win 10 with that update and using a old card and it wasnt working for you, this post might help.

Fixed General Bugs
- Increase in DPC latency observed in Latencymon for Ampere-based GPUs

Open Issues in Version 536.67 WHQL
  • Small checkerboard like pattern may randomly appear in Chromium based applications [3992875]
  • Some monitors may display random black screen flicker when in Display Stream Compression mode when using R530 drivers [4034096]
  • [Control][DX12] Cut scenes and videos show tearing and partial jitter [4084000]
  • Launching a DirectX game on an Alienware x17 R2 w/ GeForce RTX 3080 Ti causes the screen to turn blank after updating GPU driver to v535.98 [4029825]
  • GeForce RTX 4060 may not drop down to the lowest performance state while idling on some PC configuration [4186490]
  • [Halo Infinite] Significant performance drop is observed on Maxwell-based GPUs. [4052711]
  • [Battlefield 2042] Game stability can decrease when applying GeForce Experience Freestyle filters. [4170804]
  • This driver implements a fix for creative application stability issues seen during heavy memory usage. We’ve observed some situations where this fix has resulted in performance degradation when running Stable Diffusion and DaVinci Resolve. This will be addressed in an upcoming driver release.
