**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Latest drivers causing system reboots (incorrect memory addressed in nvwgf2umx.dll) in very specific circumstances for me on shader compilation when using UHD resolution + HDR + Frame Gen + nVidia overlay turned on with filters active (only when all those are active - though I've not exhaustively tested if Frame Gen is necessary - it shouldn't really have much bearing at that point) - also happening on systems without Intel CPUs so probably not the 13th/14th gen issue.

seems to be many people having problems after installing the new 572.16 driver.

its made me kinda paranoid to use it now.

I refused to get Geforce experience and i only downloaded the new Geforce App yesterday because of the DLSS 4 release which the app is meant to replace old versions of DLSS to the latest but it seems like with anything now a days, it has bugs, problems etc. it will be worth it im sure but when i dont know.

I did however get to try the new Super Resolution on Indiana Jones and it looks very good.
Ah. Must try that. First install of app didnt read any games. Downloaded from Nvidia website and fresh install worked. No further issues on 4090.

Seems to be quite widely reported, but the latest and only drivers for the 5080 (and presumably 5090, not sure?) are ******* borked. I had a nightmare setting my 5080 up and had to resort to stupid shenanigans I can't be bothered getting into to get it all working properly. I've been building and using gaming PCs for over 20 years and never had issues before from simply changing a bloody GPU.

The main thing really annoying me is Steam VR is completely broken. Just a stuttering mess on these drivers. Seems Nvidia have actually acknowledged it at least

Not sure why but I started to have some random game CTD, with the 572.16 drivers with my 4080 and Windows 11. Also when the Nvidia App updated it would not be able to optimise certain games, even though they had been ran previously for some time.

I went back to the previous 566.36 drivers and so far, last few days, all seems well. I did completely remove the Nvidia app and reinstalled it from a direct link on their website, same version. This time the noted games that would not optimise seem to be fine, and instantly optimised.

For now, I'll ignore the app informing me of an updated driver being available..!

Check the Windows Event log, if it's related to nvlddmkm.sys, then you can join the countless other people experiencing the same issues.

Mine seem to have been related to "gameoverlayrenderer64.dll". Since changing back, as detailed above, they have not happened.
Possibly related to the Nvidia App overlay and Steam..?

Point is though, now back on the previous driver revision and a full reinstall of the app, all seems well so far and that is with using the Nvidia app overlay.

The nVidia App overlay will even cause my systems to reboot with 572.16 drivers in specific circumstances - so far seems to be a driver issue rather than system issue as it doesn't happen with older drivers and happens across different hardware configurations (and doesn't happen with the overlay disabled).

Not that I noticed, I'm using a creative ae-5 in the bottom pci-e 16

Same motherboard as you.

I tried the on board sound once and it was pretty poor.
