**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

First time Nvidia gpu owner here, I haven’t downloaded the Nvidia app and don’t think that I will so am having to download drivers from their website, I take it that it’s ok to install them without removing previous drivers?

Yes.

But a couple of things.

The Nvidia App you will probably find is already installed.

If you open the Nvidia App it will offer to auto upgrade the drivers for you.

Anyone else just getting spinning circle when trying to search for drivers

Time to test this, this issue has been driving me up the wall!
Well....it seems fixed however got an unrecoverable black screen during driver install and black screens on reboot. Disconnecting 2nd monitor fixed it but not yet rebooted again...suspect the problem will return on reboot with both monitors connected!

Edit - Rebooted and seems fine....

I've always found multi-monitor to be buggy when installing drivers, even back on my 3080 and 4090. I now naturally unplug the 2nd one, install the drivers, reboot, then plug the 2nd one back in.
Just like I always close Afterburner or other GPU monitoring software during the install

This is the first driver where I haven't had a black screen after installing, since the 5090/5080 launch drivers at the end of January. I was on a 4090 until mid-March, then switching to a 5090. So that, at least, is progress.

Other than the black-screen-after-install, I haven't had too many problems on the 5090 (the 4090 was much worse). So now the question becomes whether these latest ones have broken anything.

I swear, just as Windows 11 put the fear back into Windows Update, this year has put the fear back into Nvidia driver updates.

The fix I've been waiting on (aside from weird hard lockups in some games where I have to hold the power button and manually shutdown) is frame gen/ multi frame gen not working properly on 50 series with DLSS4 when Gsync and Vsync is on.

This issue is listed in the notes as being fixed now in the new driver. IT ******* IS NOT!

Just tested in Cyberpunk - frame gen still not working correctly unless you use the old v3.8.1 of nvngx_dlssg.dll, which only allows x2 frame gen.

WTF are Nvidia smoking? It takes some gall to list something as being fixed when it isn't. How have they got this bad this quickly?

Hahahahahahahaha.

Just fired up Indy to confirm if frame gen/ multi frame gen is still borked with DLSS4 etc there too on the new driver.....

The title screen loads in at 7fps and stays at 7fps, and then slowly starts filling with garbled corruption and whites out to an over exposed mess. Game ran absolutely fine yesterday on 572.83 (apart from frame gen being borked as per forever).

I have widgets on a second screen showing all CPU/ GPU stats - my 5080 is running at only 90w in game, yet the clock speeds are maxed and the GPU usage is maxed out. Never seen **** like this in years.

Hahahahahahahaha. Best drivers evaaaaaaar. I think I'm going slightly mad.

What GPU are you running?

I don't have Indy installed at the moment to check that, but Stalker 2 is running normally on my 5090 with the new drivers. I guess the trend of Nvidia driver bugs being incredibly random in who is and isn't affected continues...

Help me out - what exactly is the issue with framegen not wokring with G-Sync/V-Sync - what does it do (or not do?) Thanks - interested to know as I think mines wokring OK, but maybe its not?
