Well, I have to say, a lot of your arguments start out founded, and just like a normal debate, But over the course of the debate you seem to fall into a sort of troll like behaviour. This isn't just this thread either, top 2/3 threads where you are posting, having similar retorts from you. Including you calling someone a tool.
Nice summation :)
so if im trolling then surely you good guys will rtm again? (shift)
or is that not in the agenda now since you all know its breaking the rules

I just sent an RTM on your post saying "trolling and giving me a freaking headache".

I am also very pleased your Shift key is fixed. (WD40?)

rp2000

so my point is well founded you know its against the rules
yet you people seek to challenge it and claim your not breaking the rules
then accuse me of trolling? lol

foot/shoot

correct a change of name to put sony of the hunt
why? because he was afraid as stated on his website at the time
so go back to your homebrew /pirate

All I can say is lol.

His official web page is still dark-alex.org

Okey Dokey. Done.

i can't wait to see the op's guide and kudos to him for making a guide to help people get the most out of their hardware :)

Thanks for the nice comments. :)

I've decided not to post the actual guide on the forum until I get the permission of a Don at the moment.

However it is available on my own blog here.

I'm more than happy to add anything that people want to see in it. Just comment and I'll stick it in.

Finally figured out how to rip PSX discs and store them onto a stick. Playing Resi 2 on the PSP is amazing. The psp screen is perfect for PSX games. Graphics look so sharp and vibrant, they don't even look 10+ years old.

Question: Would I be able to buy an 8gb stick and use that to store games? Would I just copy the folders over from the MM stick?

I agree. When I decided to play FFVII on my PSP I was worried that the text would be too small to read, but it's like it was made for it.

By MM stick do you mean the Magic Memory Stick?

Once you've installed CFW you don't need to keep any special files on the Memory Stick so you can take all the installation files off or format.

You should be able to stick any Pro duo card in and use it normally. :)

Yup, magic memory stick is what the MM stood for. Now I need to find a cheap 16gb stick. My 4gb stick didn't last long. Compressing ISO's doesn't really help much either.

Nice guide on your blog btw. :)

Is there a way to compress PSX games?

How are you making them?

Using "Simple Popstation GUI" there's an option for compression.

i don't think you can use a 16gb stick, 4gb or 8gb is the maximum iirc.

I've a feeling the limit was upped to 16gb in a recent firmware.

I still find it cheaper to buy multiple 4gb sticks, than one huge capacity one. Sure you have to swap them, but they're only tiny to carry around. :)

Seeing as I didn't sling any childish remarks to begin with I won't bother! :)

holier than thou lol, your another one eh? if you have a problem with me take it to email, like the last guy who didnt bother. honestly what do you think comments like that are going to achieve?

Well it certainly isn't just you I have a problem with. It is all those types who preach about copyright law and piracy. There are bigger injustices in the world to get hot under the collar over.

C'est la vie, eh? ;)

Been following this thread for a while - some great stuff posted here, keep it coming! Let the naysayers go elsewhere...

One thing I'm after is about updating CFW. I'm on 3.52 m-33 at the moment and would like to go up to 3.90 or 4.01. Is it just a case of downloading and running it? Or do I need to get a battery again?

Hello mate.

Just out of interest, I had a read of your guide.
Well done, very good, seems very complete.... dare I say "fool proof"? ;)

It differs somewhat from the guide I was following.

Make sure “Time Machine IPL” is selected, and make sure the line that says “3.90
eBoot” is blank, then click on “Inject IPL Only.”
8. Delete all files currently on the memory stick by selecting and deleting them (do not
reformat). Now we will begin copying files to the new memory stick.

I gather this is because the files that are copied over after the IPL differ slightly from those that are created with the Create Pandora button.
I think my method simply copies more files over, it copies several extra apps over as well... such as the Ad-Hoc file transfer app.

I already made a MMS using the method in the other guide, so I'll try that first seeing as it's made now, but, if for some reason it doesn't work, I shall follow your guide, as it seems pretty complete ;)

One question, is your guide good for both phat and slim PSPs?
I have different instructions depending on which model you're flashing.

Anyway, whether I end up using your guide or not, I still wanted to say thanks for the effort of making a thorough and well laid out guide. :)

Vin.
