I'm def in, never been to an ocuk meet before so treat me gently, I happen to have the first 2 weeks in august off work, yay! haven't been camping for ages, haven't got a tent actually, but I'll get one before I come. I love bbq's, beer and having a good time. Should be fun. See you there!!!

Added you name to the hell or high water list ;)

I spoted a deal today for those who need to buy tents and sleeping bags, Millets have a choice of a three man or two different two man tents plus two sleeping bags for about £70. I think we'll be going for the three man tent one :)

Woah calm down! How am I supposed to know!!!

I have no doubt that parking will be tight, we may have to improvise and anyone who can car share is recommended to do so.

I think we have room for 10-12 cars. When this was orignally planned there wasn't going to be a space problem because only a few people were going to stay at the house and the others at the campsite up the road but I have expanded the numbers to try and accomodate everyone and parking wasn't in the forefront of my mind.

We may have to come up with another solution, like finding a residential road in the town and putting a few of the cars there then ferry people back to the house.

I'm sorry about this its a bit of an oversight and I know how precious some of you guys are about your cars :(

Maybe we can negotiate some thing with the farmer who runs the campsite to see if we can pay to park there. There is also a layby up the road which is always empty but is in the middle of nowhere (don't know what the rules are about parking in laybys)

If people want to form a contingent and book places over there for camping too then thats OK. In fact I actively encourage it. The problem was that drawing a line before no would have ment just one or two people would have been left over there. If people will volenteer I will be very grateful, remember its just a couple of hundred meters. Please don't make ME make a cut :(

Apologies again

More road more fun! :p

So you are limited for space?
I'm ok being in the campsite then, hardly much and I get to sleep with the car :p ;)

Cool

right we need some more volunteers, who wants to stay with Chenko at the campsite :).

Or even Chenko just call the campsite and ask if they would let you leave your car there (pretend your going hiking if you like and need somewhere to drop the car for a couple of days) :)

As you know all ready you will have complete access to the party area (its literally 100 yards away)

Oi!

Talk to me people or I'll get Otacon to email you all!

First, will someone phone the campsite and ask if they will let us park cars there?

Or will you sort yourselves into groups of who wants to camp at my parents place and who is willing to compromise and camp at the site?

Please

Just been reading through the thread, count me in.... i'm game for a laugh :D

I am a camping virgin but I have no problems staying at the campsite. I will give them a ring monday to get it sorted. Its my first ocuk meet as well :)

Excellent Zirax, thats the spirit :)

Please post how you get on with the campsite, if you can negotiate parking there, you are welcome to camp at Mum and Dads place :)

Although our tent density maybe reaching critical mass.

@ Everyone

Thank you for starting to sort out the car sharing, you're all doing a great job :)
Sharing isn't the only solution available, the option of paying for parking at the campsite can still be explored, I am sure people who go hiking around the area must park somewhere. As I mentioned before there are some very quiet residential roads in Pembroke where nobody would notice your cars, the crime rate in the area is minimal, we would need to do some ferrying about it taxi people back after they store their motors but it only a couple of miles into Pembroke.

This sounds great, I would like to be added as a possibility if that ok. At the moment I only live 1 hours drive away (otherside of Carmarthen). This is only temporary and I may have moved by August. Lets hope not! :p

Elston

We would be delighted to see you :)

Please note the situation regarding cars tho, we are short of space for parking :( If you can cadge a lift from somone on the way through that would be ideal or if you can think of a place safe place to store cars in the Pembroke area, that would be even better!

Stop Press

1) Mother is going to speak to the church committee and ask if for a fee we could hire the church car for the weekend

I reckon £50 should secure us 10-15 parking spaces for the whole weekend, failing that then the parents are happy to open the bottom paddock and have people park on the grass, which I think is very nice of them. So we can stop worrying about parking for the time being

2) Mexican night is all systems go on the Friday! Here's the score; Blankets are compulsory a la Clint Eastwood in Fist Full of Dollars, cheroots and sombreros will be optional.

I do need a volunteer to do some creative work for this and make a couple of Pinata (instructions here http://www.bry-backmanor.org/holidayfun/pinata.html). Mother and Father are providing chilli and we can bring Tacos, Doritos, dips, mexican beers and other goodies :)

3) Pembrokeshire is a lovely place BUT IT IS NOT WARM!! Even it is August even if its boiling you will want the assurance of waterproofs and warm clothes, I hope we won't need them but nobody want hyperthermia so bring proper warm stuff and good footwear.

Thats all for now
