Welcome aboard, hic.Oh wow a whiskey thread, just found this. Massive whiskey fan here, will drink most but especially an Islay fan.
Welcome aboard, hic.
Bagged these 3 at auction
Big Benromach fan, and I've read some say this is the very best of their cask strength batch offerings, so really looking forward to this. If it tops the 100 proof 10yr I'll be very happy

Been meaning to try some Glen Scotia for a long time and this seemed like a sensible price for a very well regarded malt.

I've tried a few different Wemyss malts, imo they offer extremely good value for some really good independent bottling. I've only had one madeira cask bottle before which was a Kilchoman, which I really really liked.

I would opt for a nice rum like Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva neat with a huge chunk of ice, for a summer drink.Any recommendations for a decent summer whisky to drink straight or with a small splash of something (water, lemonade)?
Nothing too expensive around £30-£40
Thanks!I would opt for a nice rum like Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva neat with a huge chunk of ice, for a summer drink.
If it has to be whisky I'd say Spey Tenne (just over budget though), Suntory Toki or Dalwhinnie 15.
If you like smoke and want to get the barbecue feeling before you're cooking - Ardbeg Wee Beastie, Caol Ila 12 or Lagavulin 8 are in your budget.
Just had a browse on prime deals and this one stood out to me as good value and should be a good summer sipper. Thanks!
The Dalwhinnie sounds nice, not sure I can find it locally though.
I don't think I like smoke too much, I had a smoky peaty whisky years ago and couldn't drink it (I think it was the Lagavulin 16). I'm sure my tastes have changed as I didn't drink much else other than beer back then.
I'm looking to pick up something from Amazon Prime Day, but not essential just need it before we leave on holiday next week.
But I'm pretty clueless when it comes to whisky.
Yeah unfortunately it's not on offer on the French site...Just had a browse on prime deals and this one stood out to me as good value and should be a good summer sipper.
JW black is a solid whisky if you ask me, interesting enough profile if a little 'hot' or young, but well priced.
JW Green when on sale at around £35 is great value. Definitely my favourite JW.JW black is a solid whisky if you ask me, interesting enough profile if a little 'hot' or young, but well priced.
Better than the black then. I've only drank a 1/3rd of the bottle so farJW Green when on sale at around £35 is great value. Definitely my favourite JW.
Highland Park, Orkney Folk Festival single cask. Aged 12 years in a Sherry Cask. 65.5% and tastes like heaven...
It doesn't taste like it would blow your head off tbf. One of the better Single Cask HP releases of late for sure though.Ooooft, could clean your dishes with that! Don't think I've ever had anything quite that strong. Maybe one of the Octomores...
Big Peat bottlings from Douglas Laing are always good value. My peated whisky journey continues, enjoyed most of it!
So far I've tried :-
Laphroaig 10
Laphroaig QC
Talisker 10
Ardbeg 10
Port Charlotte 10 Heavily Peated
Carol Ila 12
Ledaig 10
Possibly a couple of others!
My favourite so far is the Ledaig, can't quite explain why, but it just seems to tick most of the boxes for my taste buds.
Any other recommendations gratefully received.

Yeah can be had at a good price. In my experience a much more 'vegetal' peat rather than the big smokey hits you get from Laphroaig, Lagavulin etc. Worth a go, but quite different.Big Peat bottlings from Douglas Laing are always good value.
