The Offical Lian Li PC-A05 Owners Discussion/Modding Thread!

Well some of my kit should be here today with the rest arriving tomorrow so I can start the build. I'll stick some more pics up if I have time, really want to get it finished now as the dining room is "organised chaos" with bits at the moment.

Tetsu : Did you connect up the top panel (USB/Firewire/Audio) ? If so have you routed the wires behind the MB/MB tray ?

I'm sleeving mine now so should be finishing the build tomorrow as my P5Q-E and Corsair 8500 have just arrived to go with the E8400 E0 and the GTX260 216. Just waiting for a couple more bits and the light strips.

Well finally finished the build, well a little more tidying to do but it's pretty much there. Bit of a struggle with the cable runs with so many drives in such a small case but I think it looks OK and the temps are pretty good so far.

Would have been so much easier if I hadn't decided on two WD320GB RE3's in raid 0 for the boot drive and a 1TB storage drive and then two opticals (Pioneer 216 and an NEC 7200S).

Rest of the spec is:

E8400 E0
P5Q-E (running Ket's modified 1406 bios)
4GB Corsair 8500
GTX260 216
Enermax 625W Pro+
OCZ Vendetta 2 HS with a Noctua P12 (using the Crossbow bolt through kit which works really well)
Front rear and top fans are Noctua S12's
Vista Ultimate 64

Just reading up on OC'ing options now as I've come from an Opteron [email protected] on water so have been out of the game a bit on CPU's

i have just completed installeing my pc into my new A05 case, im very happy with the case and its a good design.

does anyone find the need for changing the 2 case fans, i was thinking of getting 2 pwm 120 fans but i dont think the stock ones are that loud so i may just use a fan controller to keep them quiet at idle.

has most people kept the stock case fans ?

The stock fans are OK but are a bit noisy really, I went for Noctua's. which are good as long as they are unrestricted.

Other good choices would be the Sharkoon's, S-Flex or Zalman.

Well I finally got round to moving my components into this case from an old el cheapo thing I got years ago. The cable management is pretty poor but I just don't have the patience or resourcefullness to make it any better :p

That akasa slot blower is useful for keeping my graphics card cool, I can feel the hot air it blows out (the graphics card was at about 75C after a marathon left4dead session) - however, it is probably the noisiest part of the case.

thanks mate, i intend to buy a 3.5" fan controller to quieten these fans, i will see what i think when the fans are low, if i can still hear them ill change them for one of the brands you mentioned, cheers :D

I use all Yate's in mine and hard-modded them for 5v or 7v depending on the location. Works very well, the loudest thing in my case now by some significant margin is my 4870. :(
