If it goes outside the specifications they quote (cycles and percentage), they will replace it.I wouldn’t worry about it and even if you did, Apple isn’t going to do anything about it.

Exactly, that's why I've said it's not an issueTrue but at 98% health they aren’t going to be interested, it’s got loads of life left in it and no real signs of premature degradation.
Yes, that's it. It breaks, they fix it.Trying to get my head around the AppleCare+ option. There’s no excess on the 3 year warranty is there? You pay £189 and that’s it?
There won’t be a new MBA this year, I’m pretty sure of that. They have the rest of the lineup to get shifted to Apple silicon first before they update any existing models.Depends if you want one now or not. It’s likely new ones will be announced soon.
You do know that it only works with W11 ARM and is therefore pretty much useless?Anyone used parallels 17 with W11 and could let us know the 'feel' and 'snappiness' of the system now?
Because the number of apps that will work on ARM is about sixWhy would it be useless? I am interested in running office apps and chrome. I wanted to find out the current state of performance.
Did you order base spec or customise it?Are these built to order?
Buy it. Try it for ten days and send it back for a full refund if you don’t like it.That clears everything up. The entry level Air may or may not be enough and the 14" Pro might not arrive but if it does could be much more expensive
I'm in no hurry so I'll see if I can get my hands on an Air to see whether I could live with the smaller screen and then take it from there.
The fourteen day no quibble, no question return policy.Any advantage buying straight from Apple? I can get it cheaper from EDUStore
Yes.So you're saying I could buy go to the Apple store, try it for 13 days, charge it over 30 times, completely hammer the SSD and then return it for a full refund on day 14?
I did it with the AirPods Pro - I had them for over a week but couldn't get on with them.Even on stuff like AirPods etc.
So get one. If you don't like it, send it back within a fortnight for a full refund. You literally have nothing to lose.Yet the heart is saying get the Pro.
Why not get one from Apple and try it. Then if you decide you want one, send it back within a fortnight and buy one from JL instead.I'd be getting it through JL so not an option as far as I know.
Yup, without a doubt whatsoever. Is everyone still finding the M1 to be "enough"?
Eve Online.Anyone play any games on their M1 if so what?
It’s universal so it’ll play on both Intel and M1 but it’s now a native game, not a wine hack.Isn’t that fully native as well now?
No. I have coconut battery installed but that's not management, just monitoring because I like the percentage remaining indicator. I often notice that the MBA itself is keeping the battery at 80% rather than topping it off, so it's doing its own management. I don't see any need for a third party app to do something like that.Do any of you guys use Aldente the battery management app ? (AppHouseKitchen – Mac Software for the Gourmet).
Moved your post to the M1 MBA threadSo I picked up the M1 Air last week.
I always have done on my Macs.Do people take out applecare? I’ve never taken it out for any of my iPhones but I think more can probably go wrong with a MacBook which probably will make it sound investment.
It can handle a lot more than 'casual photo and video editing'. I've been editing 4K video on mine without any issues whatsoever, apart from squinting at the screen. It can even handle casual photo and video editing.
In normal use, you won’t really notice and difference between an M1 or M2 MacBook Air but even the base model M1 will run rings around your i5 MBA.Really ? i thought everyone was raving about these new chips My only concern about them is no fan in these new M chip Airs.
Although the one in the i5 does very little to cool it down.
