EE as are taking ages to ship the large capacity 12.9" models. Ordered the 12.9 2TB SG on the 28th May and still waiting :(

My mum ordered the 12.9 256GB SG on EE to replace her old iPad mini 4 on the 25th May and they delivered that yesterday so at least their moving.

Stunning tablet though as I've never used the 12.9" models.
Curious as to why you’re ordering them from EE?

I'm with EE anyway for my iPhone SIM only and watch data only plans so it was just easier to add the iPad as another line with them and spread the cost instead of buying it fully outright with Apple or paying them monthly for it. When you take out the cost of the iPad over 2yrs anyway and your left with just the cost of the smart data plan it's not that bad.

I considered this too but my issue was/is for £20 p/m (cost of sim) with them you get 20gb and one smart extra. You can get 120gb normally for £20 p/m.

128gb iPad is 1149 + (20x24) = £1629

With ee

20gb per month data total = 1728

basically paying £100 extra over 24 months for order via them. Same process but get the esim and you’d have it by now.

I have to do that with the switch and it's a pain in the ass. Plus using my phone as a hotspot drains the battery pretty quick, even the 12 pro max. I'd rather the convenience of just opening the iPad and using it without having to tether it each time when not in range of wifi.

Thankfully modern iPads/iPadOS do just tether to your iPhone with no faff at all - no need to actively switch on hotspot on your iPhone.
The process is so seamless that it’s pretty much like having a SIM in the iPad anyway.

Agreed, it's extremely easy to do and if I know I need to tether I usually carry a battery charger with me anyway.

Even when it's off on the iphone as well.

One thing I will say is it goes on 'low data' mode as default so remember and turn it off.

Been seriously contemplating about buying one but they are rather expensive as I’m after the 12.9 version with the 1 tb storage but also considering the 512 or 256 versions as well.
Is there really any major differences between the 512 and 1tb versions??

The 1TB has 16GB RAM.
Yep I know that but seems like it doesn’t make much of a difference between the 8gb the 512 and 256 versions at the moment.

Not sure if it’s worth getting the 1tb and future proofing myself or just save myself a chunk of money and get the 512/256 versions and use the extra to buy a smart case.

No one knows tbh when or if 16GB will make sense on iPad. Right now it’s completely overkill.

Good luck!
Lol she knows I badly want one as I’m fully integrated into the Apple ecosystem. She has a Mac computer but funnily enough she uses a Samsung tablet for her work. Mind you her work paid for it lol.

Another question though. Is there any real difference between the Apple magic keyboard that currys is selling for £199 and the newest one which sells for £300+

The gen1 MK still fits the new 12.9 but isn’t quite an exact fit due the new extra few mm thickness. I would take the saving.

Now off to to tell the wifey :cry::cry:
See I get away with it because the iPad I ordered is for the wifey. I used to use iPads, I had an original one that I imported from the US in that period when they were available there but not here and then I had an iPad 2 but I was given the original Pro through work and hardly used it. I gave it to wifey to replace her mini and now I'm replacing it with the 11". She uses it all the time, for me, my phone is sufficient and when I need a little extra if sitting downstairs, I just grab the MBA.

She's quite excited. New phone last year, new iPad this year. She's spoilt rotten :)
