Apparently it's to do with thickness of the chassis at the back, you can feel the battery if you try to get a feel for it. Isn't the case with the Pro or 2020 Air.
Either they’ve got defective units or are as fussy as hell as it feels uniform all over to me and as flat as a pancake.

Who are the people anyway?

Are these the same ‘people’ who take an iPad and apply so much force that their fingers are white and practically bent back on themselves and then complain that they were able to bend it?

Reminds me of iPhone 6 Plus and the bendgate stuff. Bought one on launch day, used it for a couple of years as my main phone and still have it (use it for home automation, music control, two factor authentication on my desk, etc) and still hasn't been bent despite treating it very brutally. Maybe it will in another 6 years :cry:

A bit annoying that on a few apps, the keyboard is not coming up meaning I can’t login. The apps are updated, I suppose it’s just that the app devs haven’t got round to ensuring full compatibility yet.

Is the front camera improved on the new Air? I'm looking for a cheaper/smaller iPad to use as my mobile work device (I need to install a corp profile on it and basically give them full control - not doing that on my personal 12.9!) - I had been looking at 11" Pro's but this looks a decent contender - mainly for video calls and accessing Corporate Apps/Info

Yes it's been updated to the latest 12MP front facing camera with centre stage.

John Lewis had the Air in stock, blue 256gb so I've gone for it. Added their 2 year protection and a magic keyboard as well, coming tomorrow :)

I just acquired the Magic Keyboard for my 2020 Air - it’s silly expensive but it’s also silly good. It has figuratively (and literally) transformed my Air, so much so that I’ve barely used by MacBook this week at all.
The only downsides (from a personal point of view) are I wish it folded completely back on itself so it could be used in tablet mode and also tent mode when watching videos. I fully appreciate this is not what it’s for but I just wish it had it. Would also have liked a function row of keys or at the very least brightness and volume controls - but I’m nitpicking at this point.

Anyone here got the Apple Smart Keyboard (Not Magic) and can it fold back 180 degrees so I can use the iPad as a tablet with the keyboard fully behind it?

Had one with the pre-M1 iPad Pro, aye, it folds right back over. You end up with the keys exposed on the back when holding it.

Had one until the Magic Keyboard came out… would get one again if MK didn’t exist.

The Magic keyboard doesn't go back 180 though. I want to use the iPad as mostly a consuming device on my lap so folding back 180 degrees fold is a must. Does the Magic keyboard do that?

Ended up getting one of these, 64GB cellular. Love the iPad mini 6, and it’s still used massively, but the usefulness of the Air and the Magic Keyboard is so much better for me overall. I’m missing FaceID a bit from when I had the 11 Pro M1, but I’m not massively missing ProMotion… The Air is just great to be honest.

No. I take the Air off for consuming with the MK now… when I had the Smart Keyboard with the older 11 Pro, I kept the keyboard attached and consumed that way.

Yeah the best method I’ve found so far is also to remove the iPad, fold the case closed and rest the iPad against it. It’s a bit counter intuitive but the iPad is so easy to remove it really isn’t any more effort than a fully articulating case.
