*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

I’m waiting for a dock that sits above or below it like the last one too, add usb-A ports, SD card slot, and couple of thunderbolt or just plain USC-C. If it has an internal nvmw slot it’ll be even better.

That's where I don't know what to do. I'd like a neat and tidy solution, mainly for extra connectivity over drive space, but how long will docks like that take to be released? I might just buy an nvme enclosure and 2tb nvme drive as I'm not too fussy about the aesthetic.

That's where i am at now, just ordered an NVME enclosure, already have a 2TB drive to go in it. I also do have a dongle dock with SD card slot and USB-C that I got for my MBP, it's not Thunderbolt but plain USB 3 speed but it will have to make do until a neater solution.

The NVME will go to the back of the machine.

The dongle will be used when I need to put in an SD card.

Review embargo must have lifted.

Just placed my order:

Mini M4
24GB RAM
512 SSD
AppleCare +
Magic Keyboard with USB-C
Magic Trackpad with USB-C

Studio Display with Tilt Stand (Standard Glass)

Looking forward to the upgrade from my intel iMac.
Jesus, how's the wallet handling that? :p nice order though!

Tempted to stump up the cash for the M4 Pro for a touch of future-proofing and a few extra GPU cores.

That's going to be one huge upgrade!

I've been holding off, hoping for Apple to release a larger screen iMac. However I lost hope in them ever producing one, rumours are sketchy that they have one in development one moment then next thing they don't. With the new Mini getting a great redesign and being reduced in size, it'll be easy to tuck away on my desk.
Looking forward to the performance of it, it'll probably be other worldly when compared to my old iMac!:p

Thanks. I've saved up a load of Apple Giftcards which helped a lot (Birthdays & Xmas's the past few years). The Studio Display was cheaper else where and I had a gift card to use as well.

I think in total I've put about £400 in gift cards towards everything but I still need to buy AppleCare+ for the Studio Display.

A little disappointed it won't be here by the weekend (I'd hoped it would be UK shipped tbh). Have kept myself busy this evening though, 1TB nvme installed into the home server so I can extend my storage onto that should I need to (it was spare from a system I've taken apart).

Sorry you won’t get it on release day.

I’ve got a bit of a wait for my one 20th-22nd Nov. It’s currently sitting at Preparing For Shipping so I’m hoping it might arrive a little quicker.

Probably from the same bright spark who designed the Apple mouse charging port. Both ridiculous. Wouldn't be surprised if some fanboys defended these design decisions.

I heard 1 argument for the charging port in the mouse make sense. They don't want people to use it while plugged in as that degrades battery faster. Which make sense. Also, something like 60 seconds of charge lasts like 2hrs? So it's like go for a wee and come back and then continue. That's their argument.

I agree, it's silly...I have that mouse. It is the one I keep in my travel tech bag, because it is the thinnest mouse I can find and don't need AA batteries.

At home I use the same Magic Mouse but uses AA batteries. I have a ton of rechargeable AA Batteries at home so I just replace it when it goes flat with a charged pair.
