*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

I have a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard with USB-A connectors for the receivers, I have C to A convertors, what chance the Mac Mini will recognize them on initial installation?

It shouldn't need any installing at all. Plug and play. The Logitech software only need it if you need to go into the settings in the logitech software.

Thanks, there are tools on Windows that report HD temperature
Surely, only if there is a sensor on the caddy? Caddy dependent I guess. (Which is why I wanted a no fan one)

I know there are software that can control fan speed inside the Mac Mini, seen some reviewers using it. May be one of those can control the fans in a caddy?
I found smartmontools. This tells me the SSD temperature, 41C, internal is 32C. Seems the cooling is not what it might be on the caddy then.

Interesting idea if the fan can be controlled by external software. Not sure what's possible across TB4

Anyone got a BTO from KRCS? Wondering what their usual lead time is vs the same BTO from Apple directly. For the spec I have ordered, Apple have consistently said 2-3 weeks from order to delivery. The only update I have had from KRCS on delivery is saying 17th Dec which is basically 5 weeks from order date so I find that hard to believe. Hoping it should arrive in the net week or so.

My Model M keyboard has really bright blue LEDs for caps lock, num lock etc and they're behind a diffuser which is then behind a label with a window. I ended up putting a small piece of paper between the diffuser and the window which dimmed them nicely. There are many options.
I too swiped a model M when I was at university and neglected to give it back. :D

Well, this is frustrating, my OWC 1M2 has just arrived and my PC is in the process of being reset. It’s been 3 hours already, 6 to go. (All the discs being securely wiped) it’ll be tomorrow now before I can play with my new toy. Oh well.

I have to say, the OWC is a quality piece of kit. Heavy, feels as though it has been milled from a solid piece of aluminum. Suits the Mac Mini beautifully.

I have to ask - why are you doing a secure wipe?

You can turn an iPad into a laptop screen with an app to accept signal through USB-C.

I can see a niche case (as influencers have pointed out) where in terms of luggage footprint it would make more sense for them to carry around a mini pro and a monitor for expos. Use cases like that I can see it being applicable.

I mean you can get a 1080p portable monitor for like £60 now so it works in a pinch if you don't have a MacBook. But then...I would just buy a MBA if I need to travel with a Mac.

I probably would as well, but a few videos from various tech reviewers have inferred that going forward it's exactly what they'll do (I think for example, marques carries around an iMac)
